i have the banks muffler on mine and its great. had another brand first hated it. most think they are a bit pricey but money well spent in my opinion.

I've installed a few of the Banks systems, and they are awesome. Best part is it eliminates the cast elbow coming out of the turbo, making it a FULL 4" turbo to tail system. The stock cast elbow necks the exhaust down to 3. 5. " Plus, it just sounds really good! All stainless too!!!

You mentioned that the Banks exhaust eliminates the cast elbow. Does that mean that it is not compatable with an exhaust brake??

It just means you use an remote mount brake instead, which is actually better than a turbo mount. Most of the turbo mount brakes like the Jacobs and Pac are fairly restrictive when in the open position. I've seen both of them cut apart, and I was surprised how bad it was.

Remot mount??? I'm fairly new to the CTD and have not heard of a remote mount exhaust brake. Do you know of any make or even better a link. Thanks for you help.

Here you go:

It just mounts inline in the exhaust system, further downstream (under the cab usually).

I don't know for sure, but by looking at the Banks web pages, I think the stock exhaust is incompatible with other exhaust brakes. However, if you buy a Banks brake, it looks like it comes with a new downpipe to use with the brake.

Or at least that's what it looks like to me.

The downpipe that comes with the Banks exhaust is compatible with their brake. It has a 4-bolt flange at the bottom, making for a good seal to the exhaust brake casting. The Banks exhaust is also compatible with other remote mount brakes, you just need to do a bit of cutting and welding. I have installed a few 4" remote mount BD brakes with the Banks exhaust. You just cut off the 4-bolt flange and weld in a 3-bolt flange that comes with the BD brake.
