Resurrection of old thread, 'cause I want to ask your opinion of the

Hypertech 53009 Max Energy E-CON Economy Power Programmer

Says at the web site, that it can be programmed to remove anything it has done to the computer before you take it in for service...

So, whaddya think?

Hey rideslow what kind of MPG you seeing so far ? with my 08 my best is 19. 5 running at 70 +mpg empty and 17 with a trailer light load .

Val

Nowhere near as good, 12 to 14 around town, 13 to 16 on the highway. Pulling drops it down to steady 12 at 55, 10 at 60. 31' long travel trailer 11'3" high, and heavy.

Main goal is to get this thing a little more mileage, for my light throttle 3000 mile trip this summer, and even the return trip will be a light load.

About that EGR delete, I am not knowledgeable enough to figure out just where the butterfly valve is. New to the diesel. I did pull the plug, and the truck threw a soft CEL, and I did not see any change in mileage.

I tried the EGR plug disconnect again, for a longer time. No recordable change in mileage, and the truck really surged when backing, had to ride the brake to smooth it out.

I still am looking for the best way to squeeze some mileage out of this thing, running 6000 miles in 3 weeks is a lot for me. Wish some of the owners that are really racking up the miles would chime in here.

Ended up putting an Airaid MPX on, and saw better mileage. Back to work full time, so not much traveling. Truck is mostly sitting now, it is not a commuter. Don't have numbers for mileage, because some P. O. S broke into the truck, and stole my trip/log/maint. book. WTH would they want that for, 20 yrs of records, trips, every place we went, and related notes on each vehicle it went in to.

I had a Banks Super Scoop, and intake on my old 2005, a total waist of money, it did nothing for power, or economy.

Rideslow.

I have an 09 and like you after the engine warranty is up, I am getting the Snow performance methanol injection system. . It adds methanol and water to do a more complete burn and add 50 hp and gain 1-2 mpg... thing is this will help lower emissions too as it helps burn more diesel in the cylinders.

I have installed the snow injection on 5. 9's. I don't care for making a truck that uses suplemental fuel. On the 6. 7 that is as complex as it is makes it even less attractive to me. I would suggest discussing it with who ever will be working on your truck before making the decision
