Dunno, looks cool anyway. If less restriction in that area is better then why not a bigger tube between there and the cooler?

I saw an add in the last TDR mag, page 19. a new Bank's kits that had the High Ram Intake, Monster Exhaust, six gun with speed loader, and a bigger Intercooler with 3. 5 tubes, etc...

All I want is the Intercooler, High Ram Intake, and 4" down tube. To go to an areoturbine, then to twin 4" Chrome stacks, with the Edge EZ. :D

Can you buy that piece by itself? Back in the day you couldn't, at least that's what the told me. I don't believe in the Banks kits, but I wouldn't mind having that piece.

I was told by brownsvalley performance that they wanted to get some dyno #'s for this and if I tested for them they would give me 5 free dyno pulls for my truck. Blaine also told me you could now get the high ram by itself and I think he said that it was around $200.

I wonder if you lose horsepower with this one also...

That's what I've heard Nick. Some guys felt they lost a bit of power putting the High Ram on their 2nd Gen trucks (High Ram has been out for several years). Someone did do a back-to-tack dyno on a 2nd Gen 24-valve a couple years ago, I don't remember the exact details but they lost in the neighborhood of 5 hp with the High Ram.

The reasoning behind potential power losses is that it flares out then constricts back down again just before entering the engine intake, which certainly doesn't help promote smooth air flow!

It's a cool looking piece, but gains you no performance improvement.

Banks= more technically advanced and a prov-en product before ITS SOLD to the general public. You GET what you pay for. Have used and sold many Banks products with no fuss or muss. Had MANY happy customers using their products. So that said any info on the HIGH RAM for 3rd generation trucks?

The Banks stuff is great for the 80% guys. The 80% guys are the ones that drop the coin, feel something and are happy. They got "stuff on the truck" to make them feel like they got what they paid for. They won't go to a dyno (why bother? I can feel it) and won't look hard enough to find stuff that is a better bang for the buck.

Now, the 20% guys (that's mostly you guys - anyone that would be on the TDR and reading this), they want the best bang for the buck, will search out that last 5 HP, will dyno repeatedly, etc. They will find that for the 50HP the Banks kit gives, you don't need the exhaust, or that big actuator that does the same as a small boost elbow. They will test the high ram and find that it hurts power by a few.

Two totally different markets. Banks works great for those 80% guys, and you have to take a page from their book in that respect. BUT, the 80% are smartening up with the big pushes in diesel performance.

Donkey apples! Over the years I've seen and read about LOTS of products that are no more then experimental. No flo rates,no dyno numbers and LOTS of check engine lights etc. Not so from Banks. I think lots of the OTHER 20% are just gullible. Tags/tornado's and cooked turbos etc. So back to the high RAM INTAKE. Any one got any facts yet or I guess a call to Banks is in order. :-{}

Keith,The 80% seem to be kinda touchie on the subject also!Got a friend who has the sixgun and he won't fess up that it is less than the TST in terms of power,even after my so spanked his ho with the banks!

Less than the TST? Dyno results have shown it to be less than an EZ!

DPK, do you think they are going to give you a real, legit answer? While you are talking with them, ask them if their stuff voids the warranty. :rolleyes:

wow I really would like you to post some dyno numbers on the highram ,klocklear? I have been following this post ,I cannot believe we are allowing this to continue. I myself have found to like the dd injectors for the 3rd gen. but I have also used banks products in the past with great results. I see all these guys posting about their opinion of banks ,how many use banks stuff. if not you don't know,period. having used banks stuff you can then form your own opinion,which I have so has dp. stating that I recommend banks exhaust hands down to any other,best bolt on kit there is. I have installed several differant kits ,IMO theirs (banks) is best. I want to see numbers as does DP if you do not have them your comments are useless,mods step in if needed. this topic is going like transmission topics ,to the birds.

You can get big power from the banks stuff as long as you stay on the east coast. Then you can just say you have 1000 hp and dont dyno cause you have nothing to prove. :)
