I was wondering if either of these actualy give you better performance in any way? Or do they just look good?

I had a flat spot in my powerband that the Twin-Ram seemed to cure. Of course, it could be my imagination. Other than that, it looks really cool! No more power than before.

I cant speak for the "Twin Ram" but the high ram does absolutley nothing for performance, it is strictly an appearence item. I have seen two 24v Ram Dyno results after the installation of them and there was ZERO increase.

Marketing Hype

I got a 2-3 year old banks brouchure for a 12v that says the twin ram is good for 50hp alone. Reading between the lines, they imply that it also improves low end response.

I have the High Ram on my truck. I purchased it w/o any performance expectations. Banks did a good job with its looks, that is why I bought one.

It is possible the Twin-Ram evens out cylinder temps somewhat. Banks ads are a bit misleading, such as calling the 14cm turbo housing a quick-turbo when it is slower than stock!

Sky... very easy! I did one for a friend at work... on a break. Make sure you have the four long bolts seated down in the intake manifold properly... I installed my own and evidently missed one... blew the gasket below the intake plate.

New gasket: $8. 00

Labor time: 1. 5 hours

Lesson: Priceless!

I have the Twin Ram, and like someone else mentioned it does seem to even out the power accross the range, but more important, it dropped my EGT by at least 150-200 under heavy load. And yes it does look cool. (Bit pricey though!)

Sky... the twin ram is only for the 12 valve. The 24 valve is a single. I purchased mine at the PowerShop in town here. If you are interested, call Mike: 1-800-835-8839.

I am sure one of us NW BOMBers could save ya shipping if ya wanted to wait til the timberline event to get it! (Are you going?)

Hey Sky, if you do attend the Timberline Dodge rally, be sure and check out my modified Banks High-Ram because you won't believe your eyes!  :D

Regarding the Banks Twin-Ram (for the 12v CTDs), the cylinder pressures (and EGTs) are much better equalized than the OE intake manifold assembly. The performance data for this was in a past TDR issue, Second Time Around (Project2Timer) column.

2Timer, eh? The TwinRam must be the reason for the price of that truck being above the stratosphere...

:D

One note... When installing a TwinRam or HighRam, be sure to use some teflon pipe sealant the the threads of the bolts/studs. You'll be glad you did, as I have seen lots of them leak due to bolts not being installed properly, or not being sealed. Boost leaks are a major killer of MPG, and power.

They both seem overpriced and the gains minimal. Looks are the main benefit. :D

I started with a banks kit in 97 just before they came up with the twin ram. Unfortunately, I tossed the dyno specs on my kit. I can swear that the dyno numbers for the twin ram kit was where my dyno numbers used to be for my kit(or within a few hp) and they lowered the numbers for my kit on the new chart to make the twin ram kit artificially higher. They rely on BS and a whole lot of embellishment and sensationalism. The first plate was junk(totally morphed fuel curve) and I thought the next one they sent me was all right until I put the TST plate in. They finally admitted they didn't have much experience with the 215's. If they just would have said that in the first place, I would understand but they srcewed me around for a LONG time and it was clear as day they were totally lost. I got so much run around from them and customer service didn't know jack I TRIED TO BY-PASS THE CUSSING FILTER, I'll NEVER trust anything they say again. Craig

Yes Im planning on going to Timberline. Im trying to decide if I really need this or not. I havent installed my boost guage yet ( still have 1 empty hole in my pillar mount). Sounds like unless I want it to look good, theres no point. Is that (High ram) what i would tap for the boost guage?

Sky... the High Ram already has a spot ready to drill and tap on the rear of it. It is already indented there a bit, easy to center the drill bit.
