It has actually been proven that there was a small loss in HP with the High Ram.

I have one and had it powder coated, like the looks of it.

I have one that came with my Powerpack setup. I have just as many reasons to hate Banks as anyone. All of it is now gone exept for the 4" pipes and the High ram. As far as loosing power?????? Dont know of any Bonafied tests with those results. ATS makes one that looks almost identical if you cant stand the "B" word under the hood. As for mine, I dont know how a larger air way with smoother bends can reduce power.

Worth the money? Thats always a loaded Q. Its up to you. For me I would take the money and go back to stock. But since I have it, I'll continue to use it.

That 'testing' wasn't exactly scientific... ...

A rear wheel accelleration (can't remember the correct name at the moment)dyno measuring the difference 7HP (IIRC) over the time it took to change the plenum isn't exactly the most reliable data.

The one test I've seen where the High Ram lost power was only 1 hp. Not to significant. I also saw one where the guy gained 25 hp. The thing has got to flow air better than the stock unit but advantages are more for EGT control than power. Is it worth the price? That's subjective. I got mine cheap & I like the looks. :D

Not much bang for the buck $$$

It was one of my first mods while still under factory warranty. I wanted to improve the incoming air flow along with the AFE. Probably more look and bling than any major gain JMHO. Looking at it 4 years later I would probably sell it, powdercoat the old one and buy silicon boost boots. Dollars are spent more wisely on other items.

I "know" for a fact that the ATS Arch flow manifold helps with the 6 speed. Call industrial injection and ask about their "polished manifold" it looks awesome setting there on top of my intake. I also boost a lot smoother, my "wife" of all people noticed that...

Better air flow without spending money

I had the Banks and put the stock intake back on. But first I spent some time with the die grinder and some flapper wheels. I polished the inside of that sucker as smooth as a baby's butt. I think it helped but I can't show you any proof of that. At least it didn't cost very much. :)

I have an ATS on my truck it looks so sweet ;) turbo spools up a little faster !! HP ganes ?? its has 3 holes tapped on the back side :-laf if you want more HP... .

If your looking for horsepower, IMO it's not worth it unless you're running a big turbo or twins. I personally just don't want anything with the "B word" under my hood!!

Eric

I for one would LOVE to have one. Don't care about a horsepower or two loss if there is one. I love the looks of them... ... just cant justify the money spent to get one... ... :{

What was the problem with the old twin-ram design they had at one time. (12 valve maybe?) Seemed like that would have been smarter from better air flow and dristribution stance... .

I know a lot of people dislike their stuff, but I have had good luck with it. My truck may not be the fastest or pull the most, but being a daily driver it has been great to me.

Agreed. I got mine used and am perfectly happy with it. Don't really understand the dislike but to each his own. I'm sure there are folks unhappy with some of the other manufacturers as well. Regardless, I'm happy with my box and wish I had more money to get their Ebrake

I KNOW that when you remove the air heater grids it speeds cool down. There is a spacer that goes in intead of the grid block called a power block or something.
