I spoke to a Banks sales rep last week who told me they are soon to unveil their Monster Ram Intake that can be used on non-delete Rams. Currently they only offer their intake for deleted or “race only applications”. I asked the rep for an ETA and was told very soon, definitely this year.

Thought some of you might be interested in this. I will be getting one for sure.

My question would be why? I don’t see the need for it? Are you planning to tune your non-deleted truck at the same time?

Exactly, I don't see the need for one on these newer trucks.

Older horns were much more restrictive, but haven't been in a while.

Then again, I guess we'll see what it looks like when it's released.

I won't run one thou, just because it has the Banks name.

If you are going to stay stock why add a tune? If you are goin to delete than make sure your state does not do emission checks!

I intend to do some mods, but stay emmisions legal. Mods/tuning only for a slight bump in horsepower and transmissions tuning.

My intention for the post was to let guys like me know that if they were interested in an intake elbow, but did not want to delete emissions, then a product is on the way. Hopefully the post is helpful to some out there.

Why? Just because it’s Cool. Like Chrome Exhaust tips.

Again, I posted this in an effort to be helpful, not to start some sort of debate on whether or not you should mod your truck. To each their own I say. I’ve done a few mods on every truck I’ve owned and never once regretted it.

And since you brought it up...I like shiny exhaust tips. Why? They look cool and I don’t mind polishing them.

I’ve done the same with every truck I have owned also and I have a Banks chrome exhaust tip also. Wasn’t knocking you. I’m all for banks products that work.

Amen brother....rock those shiny tips! I apologize for taking your post the wrong way. Thread just headed in a different direction that I expected - I must be getting sensitive in my old age :). My 5” exhaust with a bright and shiny 6” tip is on the way. Neighbors won’t like it though.

I miss my 89 with straight exhaust no muffler. She’d roar when dragging a heavy (15,000-19,000lb ) trailer. My neighbors thought it was the garbage truck an would run out with their cans in tow as I’d drive down the block...

That’s hilarious . I have one particular neighbor I’d like to do that to 7 days a week. I had a nasty drone in cab with my previous 01’ (miss that truck). Hoping drone won’t be too bad with this new exhaust. Loud on outside of cab is fine though

Do you know when they changed? My oldest son swears by them, even on his two current '16's, his past '12 and two '06's. He gets the expensive one with the larger cac pipe.

When I was thinking about getting one for my 24v, DAP sent me these pictures and said the 24v don't need/respond to them because they were already big enough. But that the 3rd gen. could really use one.

First picture is a 24v, second one is an aftermarket and oem 3rd gen.

The 03-07 5.9 horns were the really restrictive ones. I changed the one on my 05 and dads 06, it did make a nice difference.

If deleted then a new horn is a different thing on a 6.7.

Emissions intact tuning is not always for power. Engine efficiency can also be improved to a certain extent.

You need to insure that any tune/program added to a truck now, should be CARB compliant, especially if you live in CALF. Or any other state that does emission testing on diesel trucks. A tune/program may invalidate your truck's warranty, only you the owner of said truck can determine if you want to become your own warranty station!

All good points points for sure.

My truck is out of warranty so no worries there. No emissions testing where I’m at either.

Throwing in the following mods and one repair very soon (3 of which are in route). First is replacement of my turbo actuator which has failed me. Almost did a whole new turbo, but decided to try the cheaper route first. Not that they’re a need, but new air intake and new exhaust are on the way (yes..mostly for the cool factor ). Then a tuner for a bump in performance (hopefully) and better shifting with a transmission tune.

I will take a close look at that intake elbow once it’s available. Watched the Banks video today regarding their rear differential cover — they certainly know how to make you feel like you have to have it. Did I drink the kool aid?

I’m gonna need some shocks soon too....Bilsteins or maybe a lift...not sure yet.
