Hi guys

im looking at the new monster-ram from banks and banks airbox. anyone have one. ? are you happy with it.

did you see improvments. in power and MPG. like they say you will.

I have the techni-cooler kit. That includes the intercooler, monster ram, boost tubes and parts, I tow a 15,000 lbs 5th wheel. I did not want crazy power. I have the 75hp Economind tuner and exhaust brake with the monster exhaust. This setup is at the limits of the stock trans. Ohio also has emission testing and the Banks parts are C.A.R.B. approved and don't change the factory programming. The truck tows the RV to my satisfaction on setting 4 (max is 6). As far as the air filter and box, I have an extra stock filter box I modified and an intake muffler replacement with the 4" factory filter. This setup is working well and I am very happy with the quality of the parts. The improvements in power are only seen when you install the a complete system. Tuners without air flow improvements burn up the motor. air flow improvements have a minor improvement in H.P.

I installed the Banks intercooler kit in '05 because the plastic originals were splitting. There was absolutely no improvement in power or performance, that was taken care of by using a Smarty.

I installed the Banks Tecnicooler kit on my 04. My EGTs are lower then they were before on a hard dry pull. I dont think that you will see any improvement with the Monster Ram alone. My setup works ok, but I was very dissapointed by the amount of junk that was not cleaned out of the cooler before shipping. When I called Banks about the issue they were not helpful at all.

im surprised Banks is still building components for "OLD TECHNOLOGY TRACTOR MOTORS" as he was quoted after being bought my GM.

You beat me to it, Wingate! That asinine comment was the first thing that came to mind when I saw the thread. I'll take the "Old Tractor Motor" any day of the week, Mr. Duramax Banks.

The big flaw in the banks intake is the bolts going through the middle of the air flow and having the ability to crack the casting while being torqued down.I have the AFE intake with the bigger entry tube, works great and no risk.
