Banks MonsterRam installation???

Hi-ya, fellas,

F. Husband and C. Carpenter are enjoying the 3500s. I gave them both the Banks Power "Monster Ram" intake manifold for Christmas, and they have been 2 days installing it on their respective rigs. Big job. Banks really does not have instructions for the '22. Their video and instructions feature a 2020, and there are many changes, more steps that are not revealed in the instructions. Grrrrrrrr.

Does anyone out there have a 2022 3500 HO, AND attempted to install the Monster Ram???

Id contact them (banks) directly since it is so new rather than trust a Utube troll ( so many bad videos out there).. but I'm struggling to understand what the benefit is aside from a lighter wallet.

It goes hand in hand with the cold air filter...better breathing, but rather than debate its efficacy, I was hoping one of you had experience with the complex install and could share some insight.

I did a few mods to my 1993 RAM/Cummins, many many mods to my 2001.5 RAM/Cummins, and just drove and enjoyed my 2015 the way RAM built it! Never thought it needed any mod or addition, other than the 5th wheel pucks and hitch, rear camera in the V-box when the tailgate was removed.

I think that sums it up pretty good , did many mods to my 99 7.3 Powerstroke to make it run a bit better to tow a fifth wheel . This 2014 Ram I have is a far cry from the new 2022 cummins ,but even then I wouldn't mess with it at all. It does the job very well towing a big fifth wheel . Seeing how my sons 2022 Ram Cummins performs ,can't imagine messing with it .

As said before ,I think Banks is the place to go for this .

I concur with the "check with Banks" solution as I have had great success in the past with their knowledgeable customer service waking me through a couple challenges.

Like diesel in the diesel tank and DEF in the DEF tank! Motor on! Never had an issue towing this with my stock 2015 HO with only 385HP and 865 torque on the West Coast with it's passes, hills and high elevations(think the middle of Nevada on highway 93)

Stock v/s Banks, Pictures are impressive. My son swears by them and I have no reason to doubt him. He installed them on all his 3rd and 4 gen trucks. About 8 total if I recall...

Maybe on a track race truck or sled puller... but with the day to day normal usage.. I cannot see any reason to give Stelanatis the option to question a warranty issue. My 1000/400hp is more than enough and with the tq management, I cant see any logical reason to change it.

Aside from the injection pump changes from 20 to 22 there shouldn't be any differences on that part of the engine for the install. I've read that the install is tedious and the instructions are lacking, regardless of the engine.

lol... it does go hand in hand, as in not needed.

You will not find a better intake than the OEM one, and certainly not one that will keep your warranty intact. The intake horn could better, but it's not something that is detrimental to a stock pickup. Plenty of airflow. If it didn't flow enough the engine wouldn't last like it does with the power it makes.

Not sure why we are even debating the pros and cons of this intake. The OP was only asking about installation and pretty sure warranty is also a non issue.

However, "what if"... since we don't know first hand, what if it does improve power and fuel mileage. What is there not to like about that? I think most of us on here have modified cars, trucks and engines most of our life. Some good, some bad and some no change. Just because it is 4th gen? I think from day one of the Cummins/Dodge/Ram platform, it can benefit from some mods and still can. If they had it right every time, then why all the TSB's and recalls?

The only thing stopping me from mods on my new truck is warranty. When that is gone...

Spot on! I don’t care what it is coming from any auto manufacturer, or most any manufacturer for that matter, it IS a COMPROMISE. Usually because of some bean counter or regulation.
