I'm looking at purchasing a banks high ram air intake or the ats intake for my truck which is better or cheaper thanks guys

I woundn't buy either unless you got one of the after market intercoolers to go with it. Then it just makes the plumbing work out. I personally have the banks on my truck. The only reason is because I had one of the plastic intercoolers from the factory and got a deal on the banks system. No real world gain in power other than a slight reduction in egt if pulling a load up a grade. Of course I've never dynoed my truck or anything so all I can go by is seat of pants.

I have the banks techni-cooler w/ the high ram, I wish the banks high ram had the ports like the ATS Arc-flow but i went with banks because the whole system, piping, intercooler and High-Ram are now 3. 5" diameter instead of 2. 75" diameter like stock, the pipe coming of the turbo starts out at 2. 75 then goes right to 3. 5 so you dont have to change nothing on the turbo or anything like that. I may have lost some boost psi but the air flow was definetley increased and it will show its true reason why its on my truck when I do some more upgrades. I dont have any dyno numbers but definitely an improvement over the stock plastic intercooler, I had to replace it eventually because of my future plans, I just thought this would be a good way to go for me. Just my 2 cents

I had the ATS. Removed it for warranty work. A couple things I didn't like about it was one the mounting bolts are not on the outside like the stock unit. The mounting bolts run stright through the intake chamber which could cause two problems, air leaks around the mounting bolts and air would roll off the bolts.

The second thing I didn't like was the relocation of the engine oil dipstick. I had a funny rattle after ATS did my Stage 5 upgrade and Arc Flow. Dipstick tube was rubbing on the rear of the arc flow. I had to put a bend in the dipstick tube to clear but the tube is too stort because of the relocation of the mounting bolt.

We like them both but we sell the ATS more often. We have them polished so they look awsome. The look will compel you to put it on. They also work pretty good as mentioned before. Thanks

I have the Banks High Ram and like it a LOT. The truck "seems" to be quite a bit more responsive.

I do NOT like the RED coating though. I had mine stripped and ceramic coated black. It looks very "factory" on there now.

I am going to get the turbine housing ane exhaust manifold ceramic coated black also. When I am finished with all of my upgrades, I want it to look like the factory did it as an option.

If someone can tell me how to post a pic, I will take one and put it up.

We just left Industrial Injection yesterday and I took a look at the polished ATS it is very nice!

I think the High Ram looks the best when polished. The fancy flare gives it a little more bling. However, for functionality, the High Ram sucks. They give you one bung on the back to tap for air/pressure/jets. The material that it is made out of is about half as thick as the stock horn, making it impossible to drill and tap in any other location along the horn. You wouldn't have enough threads to make it seal. I'm talking super thin stuff. The only other place thick enough to tap holes is right at the base, but there is too much in the way that close to the head. I put my water/meth jets at the base on the back, up as high as I could, and still had to use three gaskets to raise the horn up enough to clear the grid heater power lead hold-down nuts. Here are some pics…. a good installed pic in my gallery.

If I was to add other "accessories" besides the one cast in boss, I would just weld in the bungs. It takes 5 minutes and you can place them wherever you want. Its just aluminum.

Regardless of which one you use The Pac compressor cannot be mounted on the Intake, you will have to relocate ,also I have Three bung"s welded on the firewall side.

True, and very easy if you can weld it yourself. Point is the design is probably fine for the average user, but sucks if you're any more than that. It already costs enough... . then most have to pay a welder? They could have designed it a little better than that I think.

It looks good though.

I installed a ATS arc intake on my 04. 5 ram3500 srw and I thought it made some difference, in acceleration. But the problem started when the instructions said you have to gently bend the dipstick to its new location, I couldn't have been any more gentle with it , otherwise i wouldn't have been touching it, and you guessed it, the end just snapped right off, so it looks as though i'll be replacing my damn dipstick assembly. Oh and another thing i noticed, for some reason the bolt that would have held the dipstick mounting bracket is to damn big. Anyways i have seen another mpg since install.

04. 5 Ram3500 SRW QC/4. 10/FASS 95/Edge EZ/ATS Arc Intake/AFE Stg2/4inch straight no kitty/BD-Xmonitor/16. 7 mpg in town
