I am considering putting a exhaust brake on my 05 w/6spd. I have read some threads here about the pros and cons about some of the manufacturers. Banks claims much better exhaust flow with the brake OFF amd also much better braking horsepower than the other makers. Banks is quoting their own data, however, so you can believe it or not. I see from these threads here that many believe that Pacbrake makes the best brake for our trucks maybe because they use a air compressor instead of a vaccum pump. I wonder if Banks system has a good quality vaccum pump that will hold up in the long run? Please add your $. 02 on which exhaust brake is best and why.

Both have their advantages, the Banks is vacuum operated and I do not like the engine mounted V-pump, rarely have the Pac-compressor fail under 4000 hrs of use, and it does not affect the vehicle operation outside of no Brake, if you install the auxiliary tank Pac is instant braking not so with Banks, Banks operates as advertised and is driver friendly, T&C always wires around all Factory connections weather Banks or Pac, the owners ability to engage the brake on Ramp is not available in the factory install or Banks, when -0 out around here you can ramp and engage the Brake and have 140* in minutes @ -0.
