this is really annoying, blocks my access to the discussion forum sections, how can we turn it off

The Banks ad is a flash ad. Currently browsers render flash content above everything else. We have several flash ads currently. I have worked out a partial fix for it and we are working on implementing it now. I know it will work for at least some of the flash banners in Internet Explorer and I also know that it will not work currently in Firefox - not sure about the other browsers. Hopefully they will fix firefox in the future so that it will work there. This is an issue for many webmasters currently.

Keep in mind that the discussion forums drop down menu is just an alternate way to get to the individual forums. If you click on discussion forums it will take you to the main forums directory and you'll be able to get into all of them from there - it will be below the banner ads so there's no way any banner ad can block them. Right now there are I believe 6 different banner ads out of 59 that are flash ads so you can also click on refresh and chances are that you won't get another flash ad.

Try updating your Firefox. I just did an update last night and it looks like the fix now works in Firefox as well. There are still a few banners stored on 3rd party servers that aren't fixed but we are working on those. The locally stored banners that are flash files that you can test it with are the Banks ad, the Kore performance ad, Industrial Injection, and the Magnaflow ad. Give an update a try and let me know what you find please.
