Gale does a show and tell with clear plastic covers and discusses what is happening or not to the oil and diff parts.

FWIW I've had a Mag Hytec for several years.

I've said my piece on another forum, and will paraphrase it here. I think Banks is a smart man, and is good at explaining the theory of operation of systems and components. I also think he is a bit too P. T. Barnum like for me. Several years ago when he went all-in on the Duramax, he said the Cummins was "just an old tractor motor". Yup, sho nuff, and to this day nothing totes a load as well, and with the longevity of the old tractor motor.

I have been around this forum for quite a while, and I never recall someone with a pinion bearing failure due to a MH cover, and there have been, and continue to be some heavy haulers on here. Will his cover work? I have no doubt. But I don't take to his carnival barker marketing.

I have watched the entire series and while they are very well produced and interesting to watch, they are NOT much more then a slick marketing campaign run under the guise of "hard research". And while the final result, the NEW Banks rear diff cover is certainly a NICE hunk of machined aluminum that incorporates even more fins then the AAM finned cover, and possibly even a "ram air effect" onto those fins from underneath the truck (if those air tunnels actually work), not once did he substantiate anything that he was talking about with hard numbers....thopugh he took PLENTY of potshots at what a "terrible design" the flat backed covers like MagHytech are and what a terrible job they must be doing while lubing the rear differentials.

All forums have their fair share of difficult people... Heck, I'm sure I'm one of them.

And wouldn't call it a CA thing either. Really if people would just use their heads then such marketing wouldnt be so easy.

Had the MagHytec on two previous RAM's. QUALITY product but I like to keep a VISUAL eye on the gears so I am more than happy with my OE aluminum cover with re usable gasket.

Mag-HyTec fan here. Ram must have changed the gaskets after '14. I didn't put a Mag on the front and had to replace the paper gasket when I replaced the fluid. I'll be putting a Mag on the front at the next change.

Gear oil has always been a least favorite of mine. We always joked as kids, that it was our "signature scent". Never got any girls that way. Anyway, I was going to change diff fluid but wanted to have a cover with plug to throw back on it. I got a few weeks or so. Gotta do the re-build of the dana 80 under the 01 soon.

I think that device is reading airflow over the axle from the fan to simulate driving conditions

Well. I contacted Banks today and said they would be releasing covers this year (better hurry) and that dates and pricing has not been set. What that probably means is overpriced at first, then a big sale when they don't move fast enough. Has anyone seen ALL the data on these? I watched their videos, but most was fluff. Maybe I will put a plug in a stock cover and call it good.

NOPE...there is NO data, only fluffy ideas that sound good and a lot of tech that SHOULD have given PLENTY of good data but did NOT!!!

That's exactly what I did with mine!!! I bought the primary case oil drain plug from a Harley motorcycle (Harley Davidson Part #739A -- primary case oil plug --threads = 1/8” MIP) and then drill and tap a 1/8 FIP hole at the bottom of your diff case (not the cover, but the pumpkin itself). It's a small magnetic plug that uses an o-ring to seal in addition to the threads, though I always use some teflon tape when putting it back in after draining the diff fluid.

It works great as a diff drain and IMO it's kinda cool to have a Harley part on my truck. LOL!!!
