Yeah, that is a bit of a head scratcher and I'd love to hear the explanation why. When I get time I'll read through the entire document and hopefully everything will be explained.

Remember its not just about temperature reduction. There are no free rides in physics, there are always trade offs. The trade-offs because of how the temperature is reduced should be considered as well.

I cant think of any negative trade off to keeping a lubricating fluid from oxidizing as long as it remains within its optimal capacity to lubricate. Unless I'm not understanding what you're eluding to.
