Was wondering if anyone has installed Banks' Power pack system and what did you think. Also is this a good buy at approx $2400. 00 or should I spend my money on better things?

John:D :D :D

I got the full Bank$ powerpack a couple of years ago. If you're already intercooled, then I think it's a waste of money. If you don't have an intercooler, then the Bank$ intercooler kit is the only one out there for our trucks, and in that case is worth the $$. Their stuff is just too expensive. You can get WAY more bang for your buck with a set of gauges, turbine housing, air filter, injectors, and exhaust from a shop such as PDR

I am not familiar with the banks powerpack, but I spent nowhere near $2400.

For well under $1000 I made the following modifications to my 92.

- 16cm housing

- Bosch 185 injectors

- pyro gauge

- boost gauge

- pump set by PDR @ 1. 4 and rpm increased to 2900

John, what year truck do you have?

I agree w/fomula. I've had the complete kit on my truck for years now. Nearly identical exhaust systems can be had for about $200 - $300 less. The intercooler did nothing for my truck (factory intercooled). The 16cm housings are a noticable improvement over the stock 21cm housings at $300 less than a 14cm waste-gated and no exhaust modifications needed. I did however like the Banks guages and four guage dash pod (pyro, boost, tach and transmission temp).

Kurt,

I put all the entire banks package on my truck also, and i've been changing it out piece by piece ever since, the intercooler and 2 gauges are all thats left, call Rip Rook and PDR with that 2400. 00 and you'll have a screamer. Rick

OK guys my truck is a 1992 W350. So as I understand it my best bet is to go with a 16cm housing and say a 3. 5 to 4 inch exhaust and then maybe advance the timing on the VE pump?

John:confused:

The Banks exhaust has been on my "93" since it was a year old. It has stood the test for durability & I have had no problems with it. At the same time, if I was to do it over again, I would look around as there are products out now that equal this installation at a cheaper price. Yes! Banks is not cheap.

J Cronnelly:

There are now 4" exhausts for these trucks I believe, install one. Install pyrometer/boost gauge, change turbo or the exhaust housing(anyone between 12cm-16cm), different air intake system, install bigger injectors (mine came from ADT and were VERY good) but there are many others, last it is time to tweak the pump. More fuel, low end boost, timing, governor adjustment, and many other custom parts. You can also read the post on up (Sticky) that says:"Stage1, 2, 3... ) as this will tell you how much you can do and maybe estimated horsepower.

Hope this helps.

Dont know how the prices have changed but I've got the Banks stuff. Gauges, exhaust, turbo housing and air filter. Paid about $900 for that. Install was a one day thing. later did put the larger Banks intercooler on. It was $800. Dont know if it helped or not. Now i've got the 42h. p. injectors from ADT. Towing 10,000 lbs never hits above 950/975 egt even on BIG grades, maybe because of intercooler?Any way my Banks stuff has been on for 6 years. No problems runs real good. Done with mods on this truck. Only maintance and repairs. Pump is a virgin. Pulls 21. 5 psi almost from a dead stop all the way to whatever. Think the wastegate is set at 21. 5. Have got a waste gate orfice valve to put in just havent got around to it yet. Just pulled trans pan, hasnt been off in 5 years. . Just flushs. It was almost spotless. Checked band adjustments, front adjust not off at all, rear slightly. Turned pressure up 2 full turns as per DTT. Shifts crispy now. WANT A 03!Oo.

I too had all the Banks stuff installed on my 92. I don't think it was worth the bucks. I have had no problems with the gear they installed ie: turbo, waste gate, inter cooler, exhaust. I think it was about $2000 A FEW YEARS AGO.
