water/meth vs. injectors? I'm Looking for less smoke.

Smarty and Commander

Who out their has banks products on there truck and what type of upgrades do you have on it? I have the six gun with speedloader on my 04 2500, I'm pretty happy with the power, just looking for a little more, can anyone give me some ideas on what to do next. I'm looking into the Power PDA for my next upgrade. I've got a cold air intake,4" turbo back exhaust, and 315/70/17 BFG's.

Thanks in advance.

Many people use "Other" products as Banks is a bit spendy. Beauty of it is is that you can get gret power out of a "Complete package". You can't really stack much with banks as it has built in defueling to keep EGT's "Safe". So alter any thing else (I. e injectors) and the programming cannot compensate for this and defuel cuts back on the performance gain you hoped to achieve. The programming in the box is programmed using stock fuel system componentry and adjusts the fueling curve accordingly. Give in a set of different injectors and fuel rate and flow is different than what the box knows.

No comment on banks, but I bet I got 80% of what you see in my signature for what you paid for your banks kit and have about another 100 HP... . I don't mean anything bad so don't get mad, but your pretty much stuck with what you have without the Banks defueling you... Look at it this way, at least you don't smoke like all the other wreakless people that have other after market boxes on their rigs... "it's a joke ya'll"...

I paid $599 for the six gun and speedloader with $20 shipping. I didn't think that was to bad. Thanks alot guys for your input.

Sorry, I thought you had the whole Banks kit... . Sell it, get a TST R49 and SMARTY Combo... Or MP8 and PPE combo there's endless combo's taht won't defuel... .

I have Banks on the 01. I like Banks stuff but remember, it is designed to work with the stock turbo so if you want more power you'll need to get a bigger turbo, then a better transmission and so on and so forth. The six gun is a pressure box and speed loader adds timing. If you wanted to keep what you have, then adding a duration only box such as the Van Aaken 3. 2 should work nicely.

I have a Banks 6 Gun with Power PDA and a Banks Monster Exhaust with Banks Brake. I'm very glad I did not listen to all the Banks bashing on this site. I tow a 13,000# fifth wheel and the truck performs like a dream. If people who never owed a Banks product would keep their mouths shut, there would be very little bad comments. I like this site, but I'm sick of people who mouth off about products they know nothing about.

I have a Banks power pack on my 98 12V & I love it!!!!!! I pull a 34' sprint car trailer on the weekends & yes I cant burn it up but I out pull everybody else because they get to hot (EGT) I just leave them it my smoke as I drive around them!!!!!

If you will do a little digging on this site you will find numerous people who are unhappy with their Banks products and Banks poor customer service. I was totally put off by their sales tactics, would not leave me alone, calling over and over again asking if I was ready to place an order. This did not stop till about three calls after I told them they are using up my minutes on my cell phone. They finally stopped when I threatened to report them.

I bought a used Big Hoss for my 01 and with it I've put down 394HP at the wheels. It has worked great for me with and without the other mods.

It may not be th most powerful for the $ but it sure works well.

The turbo is great, spools real quick. On hindsight I could have probably gone a little bigger considering what I still plan to do, but it works very well for my needs.

It's not that we are bashing BANKS products, we just know how to get alot more bang for our buck. You spend $4k+ on a bundle that you cannot upgrade, or stack other products with, and basically you are stuck. I have spent less than $3k, and have a 5" Stainless T304 Magnaflow Turbo Back exhaust, AFE stage II Intake, Southbend FE Clutch, and Juice W/Attitude. . Way more HP than you could ever get out of a Banks Bundle. . I drove a friend's 01. 5 Dodge with the Powerpack on it, and when it crapped out, Banks told him tough luck. . I had to get him a Van Aaken box just to get him down the road. . It stinks having invested all that money, and the only things that are left working after throwing away that much money are the exhaust and the crappy air cleaner replacement. Just posting my $. 02 worth.

I HAD installed a powerpack on my truck back when I baught it in 01. Back then it was all that was available. As time progressed I wanted more and could not stack anything with it as it is meant for the "Stock" guy who wants power with the least effort (I. E Not swapping turbos, installing injectors etc). So in '02 I uninstalled it and built a more powerful platform with room to expand in the future.

Nice for some indeed but not all and it has it's advantages too. Like being power in a box shipped to your door, manages smoke quite well, tons of R&D and of course "brand recognition" being their name is on everything from beer cozies to football stadiums. So take it from a FORMER banks owner that isn't "Bashing" nor "mouthing off" but rather someone shedding some light on what to possibly expect before he spedns money and may be upset with the end result with marginal gains if any.

I have quite a bit of Banks installed. I spent alot of time looking around, and I was happy with the Banks. I didn't know much about my truck (not that I know anymore now), and they provided me with an avenue to upgrade. I also kept in mind that they have their kits how they have them. When I decided to start actually modifying the truck I asked the guy if I had to buy a whole kit. He argued with me about it for a while and then said no. I bought the pieces I wanted, and that was it.

I did get a box from them, and the defueling part of it is an issue, because now I am looking to do injectors. I also was aware of this going in. So you could say that I wasted some money. Banks also gave me a starting point on my truck for me to figure out what I am doing with a vehicle that has no spark plugs.

Overall, I'm not disappointed. Now I am looking to put together something myself.

If you know you aren't going to get bitten by the power bug stay banks, they after all have all those nice convenient safety features.

If you are going to keep upgrading... a box from them is bad.

Well that is one problem, I've gotten bit by the power bug, I like the power the six gun has given me, I just want a little more power but I don't want to get into any costly repairs for a play toy. I just want good power for everyday use and have a little extra for when I want to play around.

Thanks for everyone's input.
