Ok i know that a lot of you guys do not like the banks stuff cuz its expensive and doesn't give you as much power as some others. All that aside what are your feelings on the 6gun w/loader? Been thinking about that with the PDA. I would rather not hear people raggin on banks cuz they blew something up and banks wouldn't cover it even tho the warranty is supposed to be intact. I am just looking for strictly performance and reliabilty review. thanks again fellas also what can i expect to dyno @ with the PDA?
 
I don't dislike them because of the lack of value everyone claims, I dislike them because the would never respond to any of my questions. If they won't answer questions before the sale, you can bet that I wouldn't expect them to answer questions after the sale. Good luck with them.



Ask them what they claim their products dyno on your engine setup.
 
As far as reliability goes,their software does not interface well with the Cummins ECM period.



I live here in So Ca and have watched them (Banks) grow into a huge enterprise. And in doing so they have lost all contact as customer service goes. If you are ever here and can check out their operation you'll see. They have a bank of more than 10 people answering phones alone.



I will say this though, their exhaust systems are state of the art. I installed their 4" turbo back system on my 99. I pick it up will call bolted up easy with no problems, nice sound with no drone.

I love their hard parts. I have their exhaust and Technicooler setup. Nice.



I wouldn't run their electronics if you put a gun to my head.
 
There is a lot of personal opinion in he about what boxes and that to run. Personally for me, I love my six-gun set-up, and even though I know I could go out and get a more powerful box, I am happy with what I have. I have not had any probelms with it yet!

I am not sure of the HPCR ECM's, but their older otto mind fuel management systems (I believe) tapped the pump wire doubling the injector pump duty cycle. Also their transmission software "Transcommand" which was marketed as a transmission upgrade only increased line pressure giving the customer a false sence of security by firming up the shifts and enhanced torque converter operation, while also shortening transmission life by placing more stress on things like the valve body, seals ETC.



That being said, it's OK to do that as long as you upgrade the fuel supply (lift pump) which sadly most of their customers did not do. That would in turn send the VP-44 pump to a early grave.



But heck as nightram said he has not had any trouble. Just make sure who ever does the installation knows what their doing.

I did not what to use any product that was permanately attached to the vehicle, that is why I did not buy the banks system. Just in case I had a warranty issue. I didn't want to get into a discussion with anyone about it! I know what they say about aftermarket stuff and that the dealer can do anything about. But I did not want the hassle. I have an 03'. The only thing I did was change to an AFE system, upgraded the exhaust to 4" and used an 36" magnaflow muffler. I bought an Edge EZ, which I like because I can take to off when I go to the dealer. I have had some dealers even comment about the AFE, so why hassle with add on stuff that will cause a problem! And if need be I can replace the AFE with the original air box... I kept it!

I talked to a guy with Ford Powerjoke, installed the 6 gun and he claims his EGT's jumped thru the roof! He disconnected it!
 
Dont Know Much About Banks,but I Have One On My 01 And It Was On The Truck When I Bought It,im Am Not Very Happy With It. i Also Know A Diesel Performance Guy,he Installed A 6 Gun On His 03 And Didnt Even Get Half The #s They Advertised,and Egt's Run Way To High
 
I installed six gun/speedloader on my 03 and on my dads 03 we have been very happy with the performance we only run it when we are towing and or playing with the kids and there hopped up four bangers. I bought my six gun used and it is an older Version, and did not run as good as the one I installed on my dads truck. I called Banks and they told me to send it in for a reflash. Banks called me a week later and said there was a problem with the tuner and that they were sending me a new one. I feel that is pretty good support.
 
Not to jump in here, but even though you only have the "XZT", you will be dissappointed when you spend the money on the 6gun. There is nothing wrong with it and the ones we are testing are nice units, but I think you will be slightly dissappointed after you install it.



If you get one let us know your thoughts.

hey quad how is that big box of yours coming along? Wouldn't mind looking into that as well. Also what are your trucks dynoing @ with the 140 box? mostly i like the 6 gun cuz of the pda option. it sounds pretty interesting
 
Well, like I said, this all really depends on how much more you want to get out for your truck. I have the Banks stuff and I like it, I already get into enough trouble with it, and I know there are a few out there that can shoot my power through the roof. But, I didn't feel like buying clutches and pumps all the time, so I stayed with Banks and I am satisifed. My friend has Banks stuff on his automatic dually, and he likes it too.



As. for the smoke thing, you will get a little puff at WOT when at about 2500 rpm's and up, but none below that. I will agree, that bums me out a bit, but I chose longevity over power/smoke/destuction :D That is just my other $. 02 on this!
