I’ve just purchased my first diesel, :D a 2001 3500 six speed for towing a 39 ft 5'er. From what I've read here an exhaust brake is a must.

While searching for information I came across the new Gail Banks system. To make a short story long... I thought a 4" exhaust and some type of fueling box would be in this trucks future. The Banks sales department pointed me to the Stinger Plus, with a pretty good RV show discount package, if it's installed at their facility.

But there is a catch (there always is) I need to decide before next Monday.

I sure would appreciate any opinions or suggestions.

Thanks very much

the hard sell approach

Don't fall the you must decide now the deal won't last!

TDR can help you make some wise decisions on performance upgrades and save you alot of $$$$$$$$ too ;)

ditto what Bob says.....

Redeye... .

First, welcome to the TDR.

Second, take a deep breath and don't get trapped by Banks' sales pitch. They will be around and this won't be the last time you can "negotiate" a deal with them if you later decide on their system.

Do some searches and what you'll likely find is that most TDR members feel that you can duplicate/exceed Banks performance for a LOT less $$.

Bombing is fun, addictive, and spendy, so do your homework and you'll feel a lot better about the choices you make.

good luck with whatever you decide.

Ditto & ditto

Welcome aboard. Do some research before jumping into anything. Ask questions, that's why this site is great. Read what other members have in/on their rigs. You'll then be able to make a more educated pick of what you would like. Also note that their are several members that will undoubtedly FLAME Banks.

I have not used Banks parts, I have seen a couple trucks that have Banks products. The products look nice, produce decent dyno numbers, but are costly. You can purchase items from other vendors and save yourself some cake.

Best of luck and congrats on your new rig.

Redeye, welcome aboard. get a good chair, and make yourself comfortable. :D you will be overwhelmed with what is on this site.

with that said, the thing you should be comparing is the net horsepower gained, to the price per HP.

there are a few vendors that claim to give you around a 100HP check out Bluechip, TST products, or VanAcken. Edge Products has a box (P. E. EZ) that will give you about 50HP and 23?ftlbs. you can also go with a combination of gadgets that can net you even more. like a "fueling box" and some extrude honed injectors.

not knowing what the banks kit costs, i will give you an example of what i spent and what it gave me. I have a TST products Powermax 3adj. ($900) combined with 4" Jardines exhaust($400) and the truck dynoed at 310HP and 675ftlbs of torque.

that is an increase of 120HP and 360ftlbs of torque. for $1300. 00

NOTE: my truck is a five speed ETC. results would vary with the HO 6spd truck you have.

Redeye I would recommend you think long and hard before jumping into the banks. I had one installed on a 2000 Ford and really did not notice much difference. I have installed an Edge EZ and 4" exhaust, also guages. this truck is a wonderful towing machine, I have sure made a lot of Ford and Chev PSs Duramax drivers upset. Good Luck!:) :)

Redeye,

Do a search on these forums for deceptive and Banks. Then make up your mind if you want to do business with them.

redeye , banks does do what it claims , but for alot of dough . also note they will tell you that there products will not void your factory warranty . technically they don't , till you break something in the drivetrain and the dealer denies your claim because you have a banks , or any other for that matter on your truck . if you increase the HP and torque of your engine over stock levels DC has the right to deny a warranty claim . ok enough of that crap ...

BOMBing is a ton of fun and can make you poor real fast . you need to think about what you want from the truck and what you use it for ... 500hp to the ground does not make a good heavy gcvw tow vehicle . biggest killer will be EGT . next 500hp to the ground is going to make short work of your stock clutch , so take into account that you are going to need to upgrade that after a certian power level . .

BOMB safely and wisely  ask alot of questions

I have a banks exauhst, or at least part of one, I liked the sound of their muffler, so I bought just that and built the rest with other companies parts, and saved 300, but it's not stainless, so it'lll rust, big deal, I also have their high ram, it added 10lbs of boost, they do make well constructed expensive stuff, but you can do better for less
