Banks Power Pack

I have the Banks Power Pack on my '99. I did the install myself. I will warn you that the instructions they provide will make you scratch your melon a little but they are adequate (barely) . Immediately after installation, my torque converter was slipping and I was getting a surging effect at freeway speeds. The fix for this is to have the pcm reflashed (you dealer will need to do this). Apparently, my truck was "slipping" before the Banks install, it just wasn't very noticeable. There are plenty of Banks friendly dealers out there. I just disconnected the MAP sensor from my automind when I dropped mine off, effectively disabling it. I've heard people talk poorly about Banks customer service. I haven't found this to be the case. They were very helpful when I called (more than a few times). Jeff S. , who is a TDR member works in their customer service department (x-4342) and he is tremendously helpful. As far as I am concerned, the product is top notch and I love mine. Hope this helps. :D

Well How about that.

That's good to hear from you Henry.

It is really a good thing to have a complete setup work good on a truck. I bet your truck gets right on down the Road with Banks, DTT transmission, and DD2's installed.

I like positive experiances,, the only bad thing is,, I have heard so many negative ones that it is hard to justify the $3K to only be able to HOPE for good service. If Banks track record was closer to perfect,, $3K wouldn't be bad to pay for excellent customer service.

Edit: Oops,, I didn't see the "Upcoming mods" part your truck is gonna Move. :p

I cant complain about banks I bought the whole shebang, installed it my self, the stuff is bolt on basically a no brainer. It did give the truck some more snot, I got no complaints other than be careful what dealer u take your truck to if you hook up the ottomind to the VP44, some dealers can be real @#$@ about the whole modification aspect. the only complaint I got is that the Ottomind just doesnt make any black smoke!!!!

High Ram is not a restrictor, it is bulb shaped, and allows air to pool before being introduced into the manifold, it cost about 350, but looks great when painted red tomatch the V/cover,,

now if I could find a way topaint the turbo, tried heat paint, and it lasted 15 minutes:eek:

I am just reporting what the guage told me

there are several different things tat can be done other than new turbos to increase boost, you lower egts by freeing up exauhst air flow don't you??

the same priccipal applys to the induction side, if there was'nt air to free up, you would'nt have a positive reading on your guage

howbout them fish:)

the only tru reading would be a CFM reading in the manifold

I agree.

What would happen if you had 30PSI going through a 1" hole or 10PSI going through a 4" hole ?

Would you say you are getting better performance with 30 PSI ??

I am thinking that 10PSI going through a 4" pipe would flow more air, colder, (More efficiently) than 30 PSI and 1" pipe.

Back to bigbrassmonkeys statement,,, the only true reading would be CFM in the manifold.

BrassMonkey,

My new B1 is red. . and stays that way:-laf

EGTs are down. . boost is up. Follow the B1 link in my sig.

You should see the full 4" tubing HVAC uses. . removed the grid because of flow. Its a really impressive fab job. I'd love to ge a ride in it.

For 3. 2-3. 3k you could have a PE comp, DD3s, 4" exhaust and a B1.

You'd make over 400hp(more like 440-450) and never worry about EGTs. I'd still put in boost and pyro guages though.

Later,

Mark
