When I installed mine I had to grind 1/2" off of the saftey latch on the hood. After I tried to shut it and put a nice dent in it of course...

Also verify clearance for the trans cooler lines on the drivers side... ..... very tight fit. Be carefull torqueing the intake bolts too they can crack the housing causing boost leaks

Have a friend on hand to hold the AC condenser out of the way as you pull the factory IC from the truck and again when you position the Banks unit.

On the drivers side at the exit of the IC, watch for clearance between the boost tube connector hose and the transmission cooler lines which run just below. I had to push my TC lines down a bit to prevent rubbing.

Also on the drivers side at the exit of the IC, watch for contact between the boost tube clamp and the side tank of the radiator. The way Banks instructions say to orient the clamp had it rubbing the radiator on my truck. From the front of the truck, rotating the clamp clockwise did the trick.

Don't know how the Volant CAI is made, but I had to cut a section out of the bottom of the heat shield on my AFE intake. I think this was a combination of Banks boost tubes being larger and the compressor outlet of my turbo being a bit higher than stock, which created a clearance issue. This was probably the biggest PITA of the entire install.

Good luck
Mike

No problems installing mine. It is a tighter fit than stock, but it went in with no issues. I never had any problems with the hood latch.

Had to trim my AFE too.

lube the bottom rubber grommets at the bottom of intercooler to fit over the cross frame , lube all the boots to slip over the intercooler piping and intercooler flanges, look at all the positioning of the clamps to keep in mind how to get to them with a wrench to tighten( very close quarters) , I agree with the helping hand holding the condenser out of the way, in general not a bad install, took me about two hours ,, maybe could do it in an hour next time,

I am now in the middle of installing my Banks Intercooler on my '05 Ram I purchased from Diesel Nutz Motorsports ( Thanks Jason ). It looks like a nice kit for sure!!

Wow the Banks is larger and more heavy duty than the stock '05 crap plastic one, I just pulled out of my truck. Inlet and outlet diameters are larger as well. The core is thicker and it's a little taller than the stock one.

I am just about finished. The biggest pain was drilling an new hole and tapping in the fitting on the High-Ram intake for my boost gauge. Other than that install was strait forward.

I'm done and I just got back from my test drive. I did notice boost is up. I can spool up to 34lbs. Before I was only getting about 30. EGT's are lower, but I'll notice that more when I start towing.

This is not meant to seem rude but what of your warranty? If it does not effect it I will probably get one, and for all who have it, how have you liked it and would you do it again

Not rude at all. I look at this way. On the 2005 Ram's Dodge knows about our plastic intercooler problems and they will only replace them if they fail. I am towing a large enclosed trailer full of very expensive motorcycles from NJ to Sturgis for the Bike event this year. I cannot afford to have my cheap factory crap intercooler fail on me during this trip. If I have to be my own warranty station over this so be it. I purchased 3 new vehicles from the same Dodge dealer if they don't help me out on the small stuff, then they can forget me and my business.
