Update, on Banks intercooler system.
I received the 75 lb box yesterday, and all was good with the shipping.
On initial inspection, I had to wash out the tubes and hoses because there were pretty dirty inside.
The intercooler is way larger than stock, Taller and thicker. The stock tubes and intercooler connections are supposed to be 2. 75" (according to Banks, I din't measure them), the new tubes and intercooler connections are 3. 5".
The High Ram needed some attention with my hand grinder to remove a sharp lip on the opening where the hose hooks up. Looked like just some of the casting that wasn't cleaned up. There was also a slight casting lip on the inside of the high ram, so I cleaned it up too.
Next, I drilled and tapped the one boss on the back of the high ram, so I can hook up my boost gauge after installing the high ram. The high ram was washed out too, to remove all the aluminum chips.
I installed the system today, and it took about 4-hours.
A photo of the drivers side tube routing would have been nice, but it wasn't too hard to figure out how it goes in.
The instructions were prety good, but I had to install the drivers side hose clamp different than they said to.
I had a gasket scraper with a plastic blade that seemed to work well for removing the remaining gasket material from the intake/heater grid assembly.
Banks instructions say they included thread lock for the intake studs, but there was none in my kit?
I used Lock-tite blue on the studs where they go into the intake.
You have to bend the oil dipstick tube to attach to the high ram, and I managed to break off the plastic handle of my dip stick doing this
So I ordered a new dipstick from the dealer, just over $6 for a new one.
The results are hard to quantify right now. it appears it did help lower my EGTs a bit, I will know tomorrow when I tow the trailer. It sort of seems like when driving normal (part throttle) the turbo isn't working as hard (same power at lower boost?)
What I mean is with my AFE intake you can normally hear the turbo wistle a bit at part throttle driving around 50 mph. Now it seems like I can do 50 MHP with a bit less turbo noise?
