I have the opportunity to get a Banks triple disk converter used for around $700, I'm told it has about 3000 miles on it. I'm sure for my use, No engine mods and very little towing it should be fine. I would just like to know how some of you feel about them.

Any comments would be helpful.

Who makes a Banks??? I wouldnt buy a Used torque converter from anybody unless it was guaranteed. It could be packed full of trash that will wipe out your transmission. I had a Denver built triple disk that they did not stand behind.

3000 miles on a TC thats been pulling a lot of heavy weight could well be smoked!

I would look at DTT web sight and do one of their TC & Valve body

I gave a BD torque converter a try on my buisness truck an 89 4x4, years back found it to hook up too soon and with the not low enough 1st gear in the 727 transmission taking off with a fully loaded trailer was a real crawl. I'd talk with the guys at Pro torque about one with the right stall speed to keep your truck happy.

I would also be causious about purchasing a used converter. Why is he selling it after only 3,000 miles? If it was a puller, run like hell. If the vehicle was wrecked, run like hell with your check book and buy it. I would have it flushed no matter what. I have an ATS five disk converter. $$$ It is very tight. I like it a lot. It puts all the power to the ground. I get a slight vibration when i come to a stop. This is due to my larger 35" tires, 3. 55 gears, and the extra tight, low stall converter. 4. 10 gears should correct the issue. Good luck. Let us know what you decide to do.

I had a 89% DTT tqc on my '98. 5. That sucker grabbed. In contrast,my friend has a Banks tqc on his 2000 F-250. He claims he cannot tell the difference.
