HOW, if there is 50 PSI boost at the point of entry 50PSI boost at the point of entry on the opposite end how is it different. Maybe normally asperated, but under boost, not sure. A dyno number would tell you exactly. If its 80% low on one cylinder, then it should be close to 80% low on HP on that cylinder. If you install a twin ram you should pick up more HP. So... ...

50psi is a measure if density, not CFM...

imagine 50psi through a 1" diameter hose... what kind of CFM will that flow?

now... imagine 50psi through a 1/2" diameter hose... what kind of CFM will that flow? considerably less than a 1" diameter hose

twin rams have never really dyno'd well... often less than the stock intake horn.

I'm just saying that airflow IS important. a mismatch of flow between cylinders will still exist no matter what kind of boost (density) exists in the airstream

About 10 years ago I tested the twin intake without grid heater vs. stock intake with grid heater. At 400 hp level, the stock was 2 hp better.

Been quite a few years ago, but IIRC, someone had posted about this before.

They had EGT 6 probes, 1 for each of the 6 cylinders. They did find that the EGTs were lowered on the cylinders 4, 5, and 6, and more closely matched the EGTs of cyl. 1, 2, 3.

Reb...

I have dynoed mine back to back with a stock horn and found exactly what Joe D has already said for HP gains,a meare 3hp on mine. I do run egt gauges in the front and back of mine with a data logger and have seen enough of a difference from the stock horn to the Twin Ram to say it does its job.

Again, once you get over the initial cost of the intake,it is a worthy addition. If you can find a deal on one thats even better. Are they overpriced from Banks, probably, but, there are just as many companies out there who lighten your wallet just as fast... ... ... . Andy

OK, here is my stupid, off-topic question: Andy (Hammer) and DPashko, what are those black units on top of your valve covers? Crankcase breathers?

Thanks,

CTD12V

Hey Andy and DPashko, those engine compartments make me want to weld my hood shut out of embarrassment! Wow! Very nice!

It looks like I did it again... I have the intake and the guy told me he'd "hook me up" with the heater spacers. He's now looked through all of his remaining parts and informed me that he cannot find them. Not good.

I have sent an email to Banks Power to find out if they are available and for how much.

Another "good deal" turned bad probably. The other two pieces aren't even heavy enough to use for boat anchors if I can't get those spacers. There was just this week another Twin Ram setup on ebay that were also missing those spacers and that guy's auction said they were not available from Banks. I hope he was wrong.

But Andy, if you have instructions for the Twin Ram that you could send me, I would appreciate it.

Thanks for all the input and help guys!

I don't know what those heat grid delete spacers are, MA2LA, outside of what their name implies. But the Twin Ram is a very different critter from the stock manifold and nothing stock is going to fit it except the base gasket and top gasket. Thanks for the suggestion, though.

Banks responded fast to my email inquiry today. The 2 missing spacers are available;

for $240 plus shipping... !

For two little spacers...

Oh, but I would get a free catalog  .

Like I am ever going to buy anything else that says "Banks" if they charge that much for that little...

For the minimal benefits described here in this thread, this "good deal" is not worth it anymore, imo. I'm not throwing good money after bad.

"If you find yourself in the hole, the first thing to do is to stop digging!"

Thanks for the information on this guys. I think it would have provided some real benefit, but not enough for me to justify the expense.
