I was thinking of adding the Banks TwinRam intake manifold do any of you have this on your truck? What do you think of it and is it worth the $600. 00 for the kit?

I have it. Most think it's purely cosmetic. It does look cool when you pop the hood. I think maybe it evened out the power band a bit. No added horsepower. Not worth 600 clams.

If you say it's not worth the 600 bucks and that it doesn't work as advertised, then does it or does it not allow double the amount of air your engine receives. More air should equate to more power. Or is someone blowing smoke up our arse?

Gummel,

Some guys that have them say they don't help. I personally like mine. The engine seems to run & idle smoother, and the engine revs up easier. On paper, the TwinRam shouldn't make a difference, but in my opinion it does. :)

I got mine from Schied Diesel $479. 00

The amount of air supplied is the same (maybe a little more) because the supply tube to the twin ram is the same size as without the twin ram. What it does according to the TDR write up is it helps distribute the supplied air more evenly between the cylinders. With the standard intake ram the #1 cylinder tends to run hotter than the rest, I believe the number was about 50 degrees or so, but you could have the head ported for about the same money to accomplish the same, and it should help in other areas as well.

From the horse's mouth. Banks salesman told me the Twin-Ram doesn't contribute to engine performance but may increase engine longevity. He basically talked me out of buying one.

I also was told it helps with the air flow to each hole. The salesman also said that it could help with mileage...

I think it looks cool... but is it that cool to cost that much????

I have had mine for about a year now, I also think that it has made a difference. Engine seems to rev a bit better and faster, and call me crazy but I noticed a slight decrease in EGT as well. Got mine with the the upgrade from the stinger to the power pak kit. And it does look good too!:D

About 6-8 issues ago Scott D. wrote an article on it. Banks claimed the egts were evened up somewhat, from something like 100 deg. variation to about 60 deg. variation between cylinders. A more thorough solution, albeit expensive, is properly porting the head.

If your under boost the air is sitting there in the plenum waiting for a valve to open anyway.

Maybe the low RPM side of things the cylinder to cylinder temps could be slightly better.

No HP gains have been found and I know of a fella that dynoed less HP on the top end with it.

After you put the twin scam on... you cant get to the cam plate to make adjustments or change plates without removing it either. YUK!

It is a not worth the cash, but it looks cool. Kinda like chrome plating stuff.

Mine helped responsiveness and egt a little. I was able to slide the plate a bit to get egt back up to the danger level. 20 more hp??? I don't know, but it helped. I like anything that helps the altitude sickness! It runs smoother, probably from better cylinder power balance. Craig
