Why not drill hole in cover, for KDP fix

I went out and tinkered with my truck a little today. I am trying to find the weak cylinder that is making it shake when I put it in gear. While I was at it I took all of the nuts on one side of the barrels to see how much might be gained by rotating them all to full fueling. The barrels in my truck were all just over half way towards the de-fueled side (counter clockwise). I made some progress in calming the idle knock, but I couldn't figure out which one was the weak one. I know that it should be put on a test stand to do this, but I want to see if I can balance it on the truck (at least at idle). Does anyone know what the downside of trying to do this is? It seems possible. I rotated the #1 cylinder a bit clockwise and started it up. As expected, that cylinder was running a bit strong and knocking. I rotated it back and everything seems kosher. Am I going to screw anything up by doing this? Thanks

Chris

Don is right. I doubt if you will screw it up but you won't ever get it balanced right on the truck except by luck. Going by engine sound won't be accurate since each cylinder is a different location relative to your ear.

Aaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwww.... ... ... ... . you guys er no fun. :D Bein' all practical n stuff. It sounds a little nicer at idle now. I need to get the thing off of there and recalibrated anyway so I think I'll go and mess with it. In the worst case it needs to be replaced. I got a "free" screwed up pump from ATS. Oo. Oo. happy happy joy joy... ... ... ... :-laf
