I know a lot of you folks have made many modifications for power. I have a 2001, 2500 4x4, QC, AUTO, 3. 54. I've had it for 6 months and have 28,000 on her - no problems yet. Been great so far.
Now I've read and read the posts and have enough knowledge to be dangerous - so please help.
Does anybody have a basic Bombing for Dummies site that tells you what to do 1st for performance. I'm not interested in going to the extreme. I would like to increase some but not break the bank nor wind up with a hole to spend $$ on - I already have that - A 22" Jet Boat.
My questions:
Can someone rank the things you could do in order of importance and maybe cost for increased performance. A "bang for the buck scale" would be great. For example
1. Larger injectors or Boxes? Which is better, i. e. cheaper, more durable.
2. 4" exhaust - worth it or not unless you are well over 300 HP.
3. Durability - I was over at Cummins Northwest(Portland) and they say that most of teh non-Cummins approved upgrades will only add lots of fuel and result in ruining the engine - they mentioned melting the pistons etc.
4, What about smoke - some like it - I'd rather keep it under control.
Thanks for the help.
