Tripple Pulling - What Modification?

Now I was told I don't need one but

Last summer going down to Muncie, I boiled over my truck batteries over my fender...

and Last Fall I had to buy 2 new batteries cause one went dead overnight.

Both times I was a weel out with the trailer.

Do you guys use an isolator, or is this just bad luck?

thanks

Isolated battery

I put one the tekonsha battery switched in the charge line right after I found out it was hot all the time. I can't remember what I tapped into to make it switched on with the key but it saved my batteries more than once when we parked and didn't un-plug the trailer.

thanks BV

I was looking at this also, but I think my problem is while trailering and that selenoid on, the charging system would still be cooking my batteries. I think that's whats going on in this truck.

My truck batteries might be topped up when I leave but the systems keeps a good charge going cause my trailer batts call for it, and so the system is feeding all the batteries at the same time, therefore overhcarging my truck bats.

either that or like I said, bad luck summer klast year.

That sensor is for temperature and if defective might lead to overcharging. Put a voltmeter on your battery at high idle and check the voltage. You can't even consider the guage on the dash much more than an idiot light. My guess is that your trailer has nothing to do with it but the long running time when you tow does. Your batteries are overcharging. With normal short trips, you keep using battery current for starting and never run long enough to boil the battery.

So I took it to an alternator shop and they tested it and said it's working well.

But all they do is check the voltage.

Heck a small battery charger always puts out 12v... It's the amperage that charges up the batteries, right?

Is there no test for this?

thanks
