Members the old 5. 9 is cranking kinda slow.

What batteries are you running and are happy with?

I will need new batteries soon?

I debated getting some Optima Red Tops, but couldn't justify the cost. I got interstate replacements and they're working well for me.

I just had my batteries tested and one is dead. The battery shop sells AC delcos and want $125. 00 each. Interstate has batteries for $83. 00 each, the AC and Interstate have a 18mo free replacement,72mo pro rated warr. Costco has Red Tops for $99. 00?is this right? The batteries in the truck are evergreen from Wally World... ... ..... 4years old... ... ... .....

JSmith,

On my last four trucks (all diesel) when new battery time rolled

around, I installed the AC Delco Pro (or HD, can't remember which). Yes there about $100. 00 each, but it's also 1000 CCA.

I've never had a problem with them either.

Interstate is also an excelent battery. . One thing I did years ago

is find different namebrand batteries of the SAME rating and weight them. What a shock I got. Some had less that 3/4 the weight of the others and the plates were very flimsey and thin. .

JFYI. Have fun and be safe.

Duralast Gold from Autozone... .

Figured with a 8 yr warranty (3 yrs free replacement) I couldn't go wrong...

They've been in for almost a year, no problems

Optima Grey Tops

Replaced mine with Optima Blems @ $65. 00 a battery. Same as Red Top(34/78) according to the dealer. Saw Red Tops at Costco for $99. 00 each. 800cca @ 0 deg/980 @ 32 degrees. Supposed to last 1. 5 to 2 times longer than traditional batteries.

EMDDIESEL

I checked the Optima website and they reccomend the Red Tops unless you run alot of accessories. Check the site.

My truck is running the Optima Red Tops and the wife's is still running the stock batteries.

The wife and I have a strong feeling that her batteries will need to be replaced this winter, so we are definately going to put Red tops in her truck to.

78DT8YR AC Delco I believe they are 1000cca ea ... Rick

I just saw some Optima Blue tops some place recently... might have been Costco. They are rated at 750 CCA. I didn't know what the Red tops were rated for, I see someone already posted 800/980 depending on temperature. Don't remember the price on them either.

I remember several months back, someone posted they were using the Optima Yellow Tops, which I think are the Marine deep cycle batteries. Any advantage to using that type in a pickup truck?

By the way, I'm still on the factory OEM batteries, 2 years and 48050 miles so far.
