My OEM batteries went five years.

Sounds like even though a lot of members OEM batteries only lasted 3 years that as long as mine are showing green through the site lens and cranking ok that I should hold off on replacing them. Thanks for the heads up. I can spend that money later :)

You will know when they start to go. Mine would hardly turn the truck over when the grid heaters cycled. :( I let it do that for about a month then bought a couple new ones, and problem was solved.

Mine haven't been showing green for a long while (maybe a year?). Anyway, they are the OEM's and are 2 months shy of 4 years old. They still start the truck ok but I think I'll change them this fall.

Dave.

I just replaced the factory supplied batteries on my 97. They too, still worked ok but if it got a little colder then usual, the truck would turn over sloooooly.

My OEM that lost a cell showed green 2-3 weeks before (the last time I looked) it went TU. So be ready. And it was 36 months/55,000miles old.

I'd put a spare in the toolbox.

I check them every time I check the oil and get fuel. Mine has 52K miles and is 33 months old

My OEM's croaked at 2 yrs, both still show green but under a load they test bad. Replaced with red tops from Costco, I hope they go longer than 2 yrs.

2 yrs is about all I can get out of a battery down here, including in my Jeep CJ7. The desert must be tough on them.
