This is just for a little information>

I have noticed the acid build up around the battery hold down bolts. I bought some acid cleaner and washed it down with baking soda and water. Well, I went about 2 weeks without going under the hood. Checked the oil and noticed the build up comming back. Three week ago I replaced the batterys and the white powder buildup was back. The I found the hold down bolts were almost burned into. What I found was the acid had gotten in between the hold down bracket and the rubber coating and was hidden in there. I had to cut part of the rubber off to get all the junk out and clean. Now I will buy a new one or make a one.

Oh, I bought 2 new bolts also. $7. 14 each.

Another place the corrosion hides is under the rubber on your battery cables. You won't know it's happening till your truck fails to start. Anti-corrosion felt washers work well but not as good as a gel-cell type (Optima) battery. Besides no corrosion they are truely maintenance free. I'll never go back to the old kind.
