You can buy battery cable by the foot and end terminals at some places like NAPA and at truck parts places. Still have to put the ends on, crimp or solder. From the looks of your hand in the other post, I would guess you are capable. :) bg

I've being doing cables for some yrs now and tryed a lot of methods, now I wish that I would have spent the money on the crimper [ 120. 00 ] 20 yrs ago, and its by far the best and easyest way, and cheaper if you use it more than once if the dealer is getting 120 for a cable , and what theres 3-4 in one truck , do you own more than 1 thing that use's battery cables , and now you have an opption of putting in bigger cables , like larger exhaust , you get better flow of like putting the bigger conntacts in the starter , avalable at napa , I got mine from snap-on tool truck.

The cable from the battery to the starter on your model year 2001 Ram is 2/0. As B. G. Smith posted, cable is available - at welding supply & marine outlets. The problem you will face is attaching to the battery. As you know, the OEM clamp to the positive terminal of the driver-side battery has conductors cast-in-place other than the cable to the starter motor. One solution is a battery with both top and side terminals.

Another solution is military terminals. The only problem I see with the military terminals is that all OEM cables need to be modified so they terminate in a ring lug.

THANKS GUYS!!!!!

Thanks for your help, Hillsdale Dodge chry/jeep helped me get on the right track for a couple bucks (for a solder end) The worst part was getting the old one off but the dremel and cutting wheel came in handy. Also while I was under the rig I tightened the oil pan bolts and some needed it!!

Its a poor setup but there isnt much you can do. I sprayed it with the purple gunk then put the rubber boot back on. Im sure plowing and driving in the snow/slush/salt didnt help much here in Michigan.

I appreciate the help again guys!
