Here is a long-lasting battery cable fix.

That is some fine workmanship.



When it comes time, I'd like to replace my batteries with studs instead of posts. Then replace my battery cables with 3/0 or 4/0 welding cable (extremely flexible).



We'll see... very expensive proposition to do properly.



If I can't get the battery terminal to go onto the post, I usually remove it, spread out the terminal until it's a bit too wide, then put it back on the post and tighten it.

My alteration uses the OEM cables. The military terminals plus the lugs were about twenty-five dollars. The OEM cables were in good condition prior to the change and I cut nothing from their length. After seven years and ten or so battery disconnects, the only difference in appearance is that the lead is tarnished.

Sears replaced the cable, with an OE part. No charge for parts or labor. I can't say I'm pleased about the whole thing, but I have to give them credit for taking responsibility and fixing their mistake. I looked ofver the mech's. shoulder the whole time, and he seemed to get everything back together ok. The real test is whether or not the new Die Hard Platinums are worth all the headache. Time will tell.
