Battery cables

Mine is a '95, the battery cables are junk, those ones with the mickey mouse clamp on lugs that don't squeeze the cable tight. I would guess the factory cables are molded on lugs. Where can I get a quality set?

Stat,you got 2 choices,take the old ones off and take them down to the parts store and see if they can match you up with some new ones like you want or else build them,get some good braided wire about 1/2 or 5/8 and buy some ends that soder on,get you some good flux and a little torch and some shrink tube too,I have made them up before and they work great. I'm not sure but maybe a place which specializes in batteries could make you custom cables. I know I've heard of places you can go where they have all the special tools to press the ends on the cables like the factory cables. You will probably be able to get higher quality cables.

Go to any welding shop. They routeenly make large cables of different lengths all the way up to about 4/0 and carry all heavy duty crimp ends and will sell the cable by the foot and crimp the ends on for free or perhaps a nominal fee.
I just had them make up 2 cables 2/0 with heavy duty crimp lugs on each end 3 feet long. They charged me just the cost of materials. 14. 40$ If you have never worked with welding cable be ready for a treat. It is very finely braided making it extreemly flexible and strong.

Try a good boat shop! They make large cables frequently with the really nice "Anchor" brand tinned copper wire & tinned lugs. Add heat shrink with sealant and they will outlast the truck. Ever make it down from the hills to the sea? Swing by I'll help you make up the cables!
