Hi folks, truck was fine one day and the next, no battery power at all.

Not even enought to run the raido.

Yes, the batteries are the original from '01, but the starting power was fine... . then it was nothing.

What could have caused the drain on them to loose everything in a 24 hr. period? I'll start looking for a chaffed wire in the meantime.

Mine did the same last winter. Grid heater. Problem went away on its own. Been thinking about installing some LEDs in the cab that light up when the grids power up.

When my grid heaters stuck on they BOILED the batteries in less than 2 hrs while my wife was in the grocery store. Dealership in Newport News, Va charged her for the the parts and batteries even tho the truck was in warranty. I didn't discover the rip-off until I happened to be going thru some old receipts a couple years later. I put mine on a toggle switch.

Thanks folks, I'm recharging the batteries now and will check the grid heater relay and check for other drains as were explained in in my search findings.

Do you have a trailer brake controller? IIRC, member OkieGo had a defective Prodigy that would drain his batteries overnight.

when mine crapped it was one battery had a dead cell and that squashed both, id say check the battery voltage individually after you get them charged to make sure one battery is not fighting the other

That's good idea  If you get past the thinking about it stage, let us know. I'd like to copy that idea :D

I just had the company Ford do the same thing. One battery went bad and pulled the other down. Company mechanic load tested the batteries and found one bad. We disconnected it and I drove around for 2 days with one battery until 2 fresh batteries came in.

Hey PAUL- we haven't heard from you in a while- Did you ever get those batteries charged, or are you enjoying that Oregon vacation a little too much? :)
