I still have the origional batteries in my truck and they are nearly 4 years old. Any idea on how long they may last? I've got 70,000 miles on the truck.

4yrs 3 months on mine, not sure how much longer they will go but have had no problems at all with starting. These are the originals that i drove off the lot with, as far as knowing how long guess only time will tell... :p

6yrs or so on the batteries on my Ford. Even if it sits for a couple of monthes without being started, I have yet to need to jump it. Always takes right off.

6yrs on the skidloader battery. A LOT of starting cycles on it. Even in the winter, it starts right up.

4 years on mine and just replaced them at 125,000, not because they were dead, actually gave them to a friend that needed some, I just replaced them just in case they left me in the middle of nowhere one day as i do a lot of miles hotshoting. :)

Still have the original batteries in mine. 5yrs 10 mos. Anybody know who made them?

5 years on mine - never had to get a jump, and I've left it with the key on with lights shining for lighting up field work at night many times.

It is good to read a positive thread....

I know this web site is designed to help people with problems, but positive stuff is great. My 99 still has the originals. A couple of years ago I fabed up the "grid heater defeater after start" as explained by Wier Cummin and feel that my batteries will last substantially longer as a result. It is still about 15 degrees here tis morning... . so spring is 4-6 weeks away normally for our location.

I got 19 months out of the OEM batteries. That's about average for OEM "sealed" lead-acid wet baatteries in the Phoenix area climate. When I lived in Hayward (CA) in the 1970s, I used to get 4 years out of a mid-grade Montgomery Ward battery.

24 to 30 months here is about normal for a high-quality wet battery that you can top off. I now use Optimas. 5 years and counting.
