For the past 20+ years I've been spraying Disc Brake Quiet on my battery terminals and have NEVER had any problems with corrosion. My truck, my wife's van, our ATV's, everything.

A High School shop teacher showed me this little trick. I've appreciated it ever since.

I once tried Permex Battery Terminal Protector but it washed off easily. The Disc Brake Quiet (in a convenient spray can) is thicker, sticks better and lasts longer than the stuff made specifically for the terminals.

Even though it doesn't need it, I generally give the terminals a shot or two each spring. One can has lasted me over 15 years. "Battery corrosion" is no longer a phrase in my vocabulary.

Try it once, and I'll bet you never go without it again.

Best regards.

Ben thanks for the tip !!!

Someone here a year ago posted that KERO SYRUP also works well, it drys hard and also will wash off when needed ? aint tried it but sounds yummy.

cheers, Kevin

I have been using a Napa terminal protectant spray for more than 3 years now. I have all terminals covered nicely, they look like candied apples. I never used anything before but wouldn't go without it on anything I ever own again.

FWIW, the dealer that sold me my truck included free oil/filter changes as well. When they serviced it my truck had a soft purple coating on the terminals that stayed on pretty well too. I asked the service manager about it and he said it was a Dodge product.

GREAT IDEA , I heard about that years ago but forgot about it. I'll be getting an extra can of spray this week. Nice post, Thomas

I pulled the nuts off, and put some never seize (I use this stuff everywhere) on the threads and I rinse the terminals every now and again. No problems here.

I've seen the terminals pretty bad on some cars, but water does wonders. If their that bad, baking soda... . but keep that away from your fill caps.

I use $1 from the auto parts felt anti-corrosion washers that go on the battery post. Never had them "wear" out even after five years of washing, etc. Hate it when I run across a rig where someone has used grease or Vaseline on the terminals, only makes a mess if you ask me.

An old trick is to put one penny by each post the copper from the penny will draw the corrosion away from the posts. I forgot about this until Isaw this post.

Thanks Ben

Finally got roundtuit doin winter pm.

It looks thicker than the actual battery stuff. Thanks for the tip. Thought it would be helpfull to bring this up.

I got rid of the crappy stock battery and got some Optimas. No leaks ever. This is what I also use in my offroad rig because regular batteries will leak at extreme angles.
