Competition BBD II, Looking for late model cab

I have begun my search for sheet metal guy’s in order to install a Dodge body on the truck. One thing I noticed instantly is it isn’t going to be easy to locate a late model, 2003 and up, cab. You can pretty much buy all the other stuff on line or at local scrap yard but the cab is hard to find in decent shape. I guess when your talking $45k to $50k trucks you need to do $30k worth of damage in order for it to be totaled and show up in a junk yard, by that time the cab is damaged pretty good.



Before anybody asks, I don’t want to go with fiberglass. I called GTS a while back and they don’t make anything with the wheel base I would need. I could get something but would have to make major alterations in order to get it to fit plus make the doors and hood work. I am not worried about the weight either as I don’t want to spend more money on lead for the weight box. And one big advantage of using the steel for me is I can work with the steel a lot easier then glass.



So if anybody has a good lead on a late model cab in decent shape please let me know, it will go to a good cause

There is a place called Master Recovery, in Fontana CA, they auction wrecked vehicles, they have acres of cars, I am not sure how they operate, but it may be worth calling to see if they have what your looking for and if it is possible to buy from them. They have thousands of vehicles in inventory. Master Recovery

Yeah, I called them three months ago they had no late model cabs and tried a locator for me with negative results, I need to call them again and see if they got anything in.



MStrain: thanks for the link to the Master Recovery site its $75 to sign up but might worth it the long run to view the pictures online before making the 9 hour drive down.

I have a gentleman who owns a salvage yard and when asked I was told that cost is the major reason you are having a tough time finding a good donor. He related to me even he won't buy the newer Dodges because of cost and that most insurance companies will fix them before scrapping them. I will have him keep an eye out for you... ... Andy

I know of a brand new cab that was taken off a truck destined to become an amrored car. It is a complete cab, hood, fenders from a 3rd gen truck. Only problem is it's on my side of the country in New Jersey. Shipping might get a tad expensive. If you are interested I can stop over there and get a price for you.

Strange your having a hard time finding something. I know up here I could get you probably 4 or 5 complete trucks (body wise anyway) and thats just at the one of our local wreckers. I know that website mentoned above is a good one for sourcing parts (car-part.com) good luck with the search and thats cool about you wanting the dodge body.

Problem solved!!!!!! Just peal off the red and orange stickers, kick whoevers *** made it ugly why you wern't looking and it will be back to a nice clean Good looking blue truck.

Scott I know Jim Balsley has an 2003 1500 quad cab longbed body that looked pretty good the last time I was there,It was blue,Call Jim if he dosent have it he can usually put something together. 1 724 455 6100. I am down that way all the time so if you find something we can prolly pick it up and take it to Sleedy's house.

Yea that body is a regular cab not a 4 door. It is a Dodge Ram 4000 cab from mexico. They guy said the company that buys them gets the trucks from mexico because they are cheaper. Then they pull them apart to make armored cars. All well...
