So injector correction is not needed with the BBi's? and since there will be old codes in the ecm they will have no effect?

The BBi balance rates are so tight, it will idle better than stock with NO ECM recalibration.

Most know that one must “recalibrate” the ECM when doing an injector swap on a 6.7. One would program the ecm with each individual injector calibration code. If one was to simply swap a single injector it would not idle correctly. To do this recalibration after an injector swap, one would need to either take the truck to a dealer, own a star scan, or perhaps a snap on unit may do that function by now.

NOT needed with BBi!

Thank you!

Hope some are still following this thread,I installed BBI stage 1 almost a year ago, the truck runs very smooth in my opinion. The trouble I've had is EGT's,I pulled my right front driving light and built an cold air into the filter-solved things for when I,m driving and not towing. If I tow I have to be very careful,I live at 7200' and tow to 12000'.I have pretty much decided I'm going to need compounds, but money still is'nt growing on trees here.My transmission went in december and had ATS put a stage 2 in.working nicely so far.If there was a way to detune my fueling a bit it mite help EGTs,I feel I have plenty of power,I've never had the peddle anywhere near the floor.

UDC is what you need. I had to cut my fueling a lot to be able to tow at elevation, still plenty of power but I don't have to watch my pyro like a hawk.

Sorry it took so long to get back, had not figured out there was 3 pages to the thread.I am running my Smarty Jr. on sw1 #1 fuel economy Timing 2 Torque 1 pod 99 . The UDC that you mention John sounds like what I need to try next-What is UDC ??? If I scale back fueling a bit with programing,I think it would help a lot. Thanks,Darwin

UDC is custom tuning, so you can program your Smarty to match your injectors with your turbo/use/etc...

The Jr is slightly limited in it's UDC tuning as it doesn't allow for changes to the rail pressure map... but I am working with Brian on chaging that (fingers crossed, but I am not holding my breath).

Brian... here is my quarterly shout out for rail pressure with the Jr. Lets us adjust it, but have the limit be 23,206. I know quite a few people that want UDC, but the cost of a S-06, plus custom tuning makes it too much and they don't feel it's as worth it without rail pressure adjustablity.

John, where do I start to do the UDC tuning and am I going to need a S-06.I'm very interested. Thanks,Darwin

You can download UDC from the MADS website and look at it. It is something you can do yourself or buy a custom tune from one of many tuners.

A S-06 is preferred, but not mandatory.

PM me if you are interested in dongle or custom tuning prices.

Thank you kindly John!

I just want to tell that I got my BBi's and installed it already.
The engine now runs incredible smooth at idle and every other range.
Good spent money at all. I recommend them!

We are still watching........................................................................................
where oh where is he.............................................:)

Patience all. When we have a "write up" in the works other priorities usually come first. We do these for the "fun" of it and as a service. Unless of course someone would like to step up to pay the bills and do the chores. We aren't under a deadline after all. :) Then again ya'll could also "experiment" on your dime and time.

Oh my sorry, I forgot about it.

I can only tell you metric measurements.
I did a tank full with around 80-110Km/h - Truck needed 14L/100Km
Then a tank full in hilly terrain, not fast, much braking - Truck needed 15.5L/100Km
And then home with speed 120-140Km/h Freeway - 16.8L/100Km

I gain between 1.5 and 3L for 100Km, the more I push it the more I safe - funny isn't it.

How is your smoke at idle pressing on the accelerator briefly and letting up? It's what's described as a snap test in California. I know a guy who just installed the 1.5's and he said no way is that truck passing smog here. Doesn't matter as he's returning to Texas.

Thanks for the report, Ozymandias, I appreciate it.... I'm tempted myself. As for experimenting on my dime, I don't mind... it's the time that's a booger these days... between a part time shop and an empire of dirt, it's not an easy chore, especially in the summer. I'd much rather learn from other people's experience if I can. Not that I always do it that way.... :D

Very few smoke, its hardly to see - for me it is close to the same as before, but my injectors have been old and worn.
