Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) BD 2wd low kit install q's

I started to look over the install procedures for putting in the 2wd low kit and it requires removing the factory breather on the end of a vacuum hose below and behind the engine. If I found the right thing back there it seems almost impossible to reach. Mine is just kind of hanging there between the engine and the firewall, but I can't reach it from the top nor below the engine. What's the trick?

I had removed the rear engine lift bracket for easier access to the injector lines and never reinstalled it. With this gone, the vac. lines were not too bad to get to.
