Just had BD's 7X torque converter, Valve Body, and pressure lock installed and all I can say is; you better have your foot on the brake well when you put it in gear cause this baby wants to go now :D :p .

Stall speed is 1600.

Shifts are instant, nice and firm.

lockup is about 100 RPM's.

1st to 2nd gear at 18 MPH with quarter throttle.

2nd to 3rd gear at 30 MPH with quarter throttle.

3rd to 4th gear at 45 MPH with quarter throttle.

Lockup at 57 MPH with quarter throttle.

I'am very pleased with this set up and I am going to install a EDGE COMP to see what a little more Horsies are like. I will tow in levels 1 or 2, and the rest of the levels are for haveing fun:D :p  .

Very Happy,

Ron

Couple of curiosity questions... .....

So the way you make it sound, you let your foot off the brake and it starts moving without any throttle... correct? Have you checked what speed you'll get upto like that?

What did it do to your idle? Change it at all?

If you got a new TC and VB, why did you get a pressure lock as well? Whats your reasoning behind it?

Take your foot off the brake and the truck takes off with no throttle.

Have not checked speed correctly (still playing) but I think it is about 9 or 10 MPH.

Idle did not change cause ECM compensates for load but you can definetly hear it load the engine when you put it in gear. There was a guy there that had the same mods done to his 12 valve and it sure made his truck run sweet. I didn't get a chance to talk to him to see if they had done something for his idle but my idle runs the same as before the transmission upgrades. I will look closer at the idle thing to make sure when I get a chance to drive it again tonight, but as far as I could tell last night while haveing fun it was the same.

The pressure lock was for peace of mind, knowing the pressures are at what we want when locked up, the pressure lock only works when the transmission goes into lockup. Additionally I can put in a toggle switch for a few bucks and get lockup in any gear, not that a person would run in lockup going through the gears my main intent is to use it for decending hills in whatever gear I choose and force lockup.

For just the parts was a little over $1,500. 00

The total bill came to $2,400. 00 this included all parts, labor, oil, new tail seal, and there were a couple other items that elude me right now. I know I could have saved roughly $750. 00 in labor but if anything goes wrong with the install all forward expenses are BD or the shop I had do the install, the parts and install are warrantied for one year. Oh no there's that warranty thing and me again, some how warranties and me do not get along, if your listening, Right DC.

What do you mean by stall speed of 1600 RPM?

Do you mean it immediately jumps to 1600 when you nail the throttle from a stop? Or does that mean if you powerbrake it under FULL throttle and the turbo spools up to 20+ psi it only revs to 1600?

Some people don't realize that there is a HUGE difference between those two. Maybe an 800-900 RPM difference.

I'm just trying to figure out how tight this converter is for comparison sake.

Thanks for the info and congratulations on a happy purchase.

Updated numbers,

Speed at idle (no throttle) is 8 MPH.

chuck3, my stock converter did this too but not as fast, now it goes right to 7mph and then to 8mph.

When shifted from park to drive idle drops 100 rpm, goes from approx. 825-850 down to 750 rpm's. Definate load on engine sound.

strick-9, If I stand on the brake and stand on the throttle the rpm's will not go over 1600 rpm's, but you have to stand on the brake hard or tires will spin:D (something it would not do even with DD I's) The comp box was not installed when this was done.

With comp box hooked up tonight and driveing up and down hills I had to be careful or I was speeding without realizeing it, and that was level 1 sublevel 5, what a thrill to finally drive a truck with some power.

Looseing my warranty and DC jerking around with me was well worth all the agrivation now that I have a truck I thought I was going to get from chrysler in the first place. A person just can not beleave how happy I am now after all the problems I had with DC.

I better stop for now, I need to go out and drive some more and then put my new baby to sleep. I feel like I just bought a new truck all over again:D, I'am as giddy as a school girl on her first date:D .

Thats good news Ron, my transmission does concern me and I'm getting the DTT upgrade later this month, I can't wait to have a decent trans. under this truck. Wish DC could get it together.
