O ringing head

I installed a new bd boost fooler today. And to my surprise my truck ran with less power, acceleration was slow. I have a VA box without the boost fooler, cat back 4" and free flow air filter. I also installed the new orifice fitting that came with the kit. This fitting was alot more air restricted than the original. As soon as I installed the fooler and new orifice, I went for a test drive and notice that my power pretty much went to stock power. Whats up!

I did the same with mine and saw very little gain. I was told that we need more fuel to get more boost from our trucks. I personally only gained 1 psi. from the module with my setup, and only at high rpm on a hill. I'll be putting new injectors in mine soon I hope and see if what I was told is true.

Ok, I am not the Automotive Electronic Master that I used to be, but I believe that the MAP sensor does more then just tell the engine when to cut fuel. I also believe that it watches current boost pressure so the ECM can decide which fuel map to use at that time. (I know marco can shoot this down or back it up)

Anyway, I believe the BD Boost module drops the MAP sensor voltage by . 4V as I think its using a Zener Diode to clamp the max voltage.

By dropping the voltage the ECM sees from the MAP, the ECU believes the engine has less boost then it really does.

I think the MAP voltage ranges from 0 - 2V so . 4 is a good amount.

Anyway I installed one on a truck with a VA and 275 Injectors and myself and the owner both noticed less power under normal driving. He returned the boost Module and switched to a "redneck boost module", which is a pressure regulator, set at 19psi between the engine and MAP sensor. Problem went away.

I did not test the BD module on the bench to see if this is really what was happening, but what we experienced in power suggest I am correct.

I had my Electronic Engineer buddy build a box that follows the actual MAP readings then clamps it at 2V, but never got to try it.
