I did a search and couldnt find what I was looking for on this.

I am looking for info (ease of install/operation/quality etc) on the UNIVERSAL BD turbo cool down box (not the one that you need the x-monitor for).

Also the Thermocouple that I have for my SPA EGT gauage has a solid wire from the TC to the plug at the amp box as opposed to the insulated type wire where u can strip off the insulation to expose the wires.

My best guess at getting around this so that I can retain my gauage and have the cool down box with out putting in an addition TC is to have a very short wire terminating in a female plug to accept the male from the TC at the cool down box. Then tap another short run terminated in a male plug to the amp box for the TC. I would keep the additional wires as short as possible to reduce the effect of the additional wire on the reaction time of the gauage. SOund Good? Any other IDeas to get around this. I really dont want to replace the TC as it is brand new today (last one was starting to go on the fritz after 60k miles).

Also where should I pick up the 12volt source from. I was thinking of doing a Painless Wiring fuse block at the same time (are these easy to install?) as I have three gauges powered out of the stock fuse box with fuse taps. I have never had a problem with this, but I dont want to start either, LOL.

Thanks for any info that you guys have or additional ideas ref the above specific questions.

Thanks in advance,

I too have had one of the BD Cooldown Timer's sitting on my shelf in the shop for over a year now just due to the uncertainty of getting it installed myself correctly. I did my guages, some interior LED's, etc. just fine w/no problems but for some reason still hesitant. I'll be interested to hear some replies to this. As far as the Painless kit goes, it's a cinch. I installed that on my '04 when I put my guages in. The mounting for the two ?relays? or breakers or whatever was a little challenging, but I ended up getting the weatherproof style and mounting it to the side of my AFE housing. I've wired in some stuff on it afterwards and it has worked and held up great. Been on the truck for about 1. 5 years.

Opps sorry for the stumper guys or have I been Black Balled?LOL First Time I have ever been a pioneer here on TDR in 5 years!

If anyone has an idea let me know

Thanks
