BD Cooldown Timer

Merry Christmas! This lucky guy got a BD Cooldown Timer. Geno's garage has it listed 89-05. Should've researched it more because it clearly states on BD and on the instructions it's for 93-08! Anyways, I was wondering if anyone has used this on the first gens. Seems to me like it should still work but before I go and start messing with it and lose my ability to return it (it's expensive!), I thought I'd ask the pros. To be Honest I would Call them and Talk to somebody first .because the instrustion's say 94 and up .didn't see anything for a first gen .

In case anyone's interested here is the reply I received from BD Diesel:

"I see the discrepancy you’re talking about: in the “Available Engines” field on our website we show 1988-1998 12-Valve, but in the manual we only specify 1994-up. This kit can be made to work on a 1st gen, although so few people request it that we have never developed the kit for those trucks. Essentially all you have to do is introduce the keep-alive power to the injection pump shutdown solenoid wire, so that the solenoid remains powered after the key has been turned off. If you are comfortable figuring this out, go ahead and do so. If you would rather not take the risk then I’m sure Geno’s will take the kit back; if you have any trouble returning it just let me know and I will speak to them.

Incidentally there are a handful of 1st gens that are registered as 1988’s, we actually had one in the shop here a few years ago. There’s so few of them however that ’89 is commonly referred to as the debut year.

I will have our website corrected to list the applications as 1994-up & I will see to it that Geno’s and our other distributors follow suit.
