I have decided on the BD exhaust brake. I have seen posts in the archives that list prices for the BD brake lower than the retail of 899. 00.

Who sells the brake for lower than retail, and any ideas on who is currently the lowest.

Thanks.

BD Brake

Apparently you have your mind made up to buy a BD Brake. I looked at all of them and purchased the Pacbrake instead and am very pleased with it. It will do everything a BD Brake does, without you having to make any adjustments, plus it has a 5 year warranty and if you buy from this guy who advertises on the TDR in the classifed section, you will save lots of bucks:

I am now curious about the Banks Brake. Anyways when I was last researching was told BD has better midrange retarding power and pac better top end retarding power.

In a post recently, differnt forum, a person said they have BD and buddy has pac. He liked pac better. I asked why. Told me it slowed down quicker. Also said that the BD unit held braking power to a slower speed.

So mixing these two together, I determined that the Pac with better top end retarding power gives better initial deceleration but falls off sooner as the speed decreases. BD with better midrange does not give quite as good initial deceleration, but holds its deceleration longer.

Like Bob says, cant go wrong either way.

Banks Brake

From what I've seen in the posts, the only thing that the Banks Brake outperforms is the price $1100. 00+. As to the pacbrake letting off at slow speeds, I haven't found that to be the case until I'm below about 12-15mph and then it doesn't matter much. :D :D :D

BD Brake

Just finished installing BD brake. Got it from The Powershop 360-825-9400 (mention TDR). They had the lowest price I could find, less than Diesel Injection. Ordered it on a Friday, it was on my doorstep on Wednesday. The only question I had on installation they answered quickly. Did not need adjustment for 24 valve. Specs called for 20-25 lbs backpressure, hooked my boost gauge to it and read 24 lbs.

Dito on all above . Have you all noted that one brake is made of stamped steel spot welded and cost more than other direct mount brakes , all the brakes work fine only the price is not in line with cost to produce and a fair deal for the public. Your choise but get a brake save your service brakes , If you have the go you must have the whoooooo. Ron in Louisville Ky:confused: :D
