I need to be monitoring my fuel pressure, but with three kids at out of state college I don't have alot of extra money laying around. I am looking at the BD pressure monitor LED which is very reasonable. Does anybody have any experience with them and are they sensitive enough to protect my VP44? Thanks in advance.

tell the kids that X-mas is coming and daddy neds a F/P gage :-laf :-laf

yes a warning light is a good idea

a gage is a better one but the light will work just fine

Sageair,

I have the BD fuel pressure light installed in my truck. I also have a gauge installed under the hood and hooked up to the test port on the VP-44. I check the gauge every couple of weeks or so just to verify the pressure hasn't changed significantly and use the light in the cab to ensure I have greater than 5 psi. at all times. I took the instrument cluster apart and installed the LED between the tach and the speedometer just above or below (can't remember for sure) the high beam indicator. I am very pleased with the install and if I didn't know any better I would think it was OEM.

Good luck with what ever you decide,

i put one in (not the BD kit, but similar) right after replacing my first lift pump. still havent bothered with a gauge.....

Another quick question please. if i end up with an in tank fuel pump will it be below the 5 psi neede to keep the LED happy?

Everything I have read so far states that a minimum of 5 psi is needed to completely fill the cavity in the injection pump to keep it properly lubed. I would be more concerned with the injection pumps longevity.

well if it doesnt, i know my next stop would be the dealer that installed it... .

Just got My BD low fuel pressure and installed it. THe kit was complete, instructions were great and it works fine. 20 minutes total. Thanks Geno's

Get the gauge as well. Although the BD low pressure light will work and better than nothing, it's not going to show you any goofy readings a LP can sometimes give you before it goes tits up. I had initially bought the BD light myself but, the more I thought about it the more a guage made more sense. I use a Dakota digital FP gauge that allows me to preset a min. (and/or max psi) pressure reading at which point the gauge LEDs will start to flash warning you of the low pressure.

I agree that the gauges are the way to go but if you read my first post, money is a bit tight right now.

BD FP LED A OK qrs tuv...

Just finished installing one on dad's '03. Easy as can be. Such a simple little device, wish I had one. I went with the gauge though. Kinda like the LED thingy. Never thought about putting it inside the gage cluster, that's a great idea.
