Any hints on installing the OD lockout? Looks pretty easy but advance advise is another reason why I am a member. Where did you mount the red LED? Are you happy with it?

I know a few weren't happy with it but it may work with what I need.

Thanks

1. Be prepared to clear the 1740 code on a regular basis, from once a month to as often as weekly.
2. The in-cab "on" light is very bright. I have mine on the lower left dash panel blocked from direct vision by the steering wheel.
3. Unfortunately, I do not have any hints on installation. Mine was installed some years ago by Brett of what is now Left Coast Diesel in Concord, California.

With respect to the unit's performance, it is wonderful. I would not want to be towing without it. And, it's great in the hills and mountains.

Good luck!

I didn't install mine, MCS Diesel did. But, it has worked good. No codes at all, and it's been in for about 2 months, and 2 trips to Colorado with a lot of use during that time. However, they installed the LED under my DTT box, blocked by the steering column. I wish they hadn't. I kind of randomly click the button and never know what combination of OD lockout and tow/haul I'm getting unless I take my eyes off the road and literally duck my head down to see the stupid LED. Personally, I'd keep it somewhere where it is visible easily. With where mine is, I can't say if it's "too bright", but it is only on when you have OD locked out, so that should be a minority of the time.

I installed mine and was easy to do and did it when the unit came out. . as for the LED I placed it with my gauges ( the 3 gauge cluster on top of the dash) . . I have not have any codes from using the OD box and I use it when ever Im towing my 5er on back roads keeps my motor at 1800 to 2500 rpm... ...

I will not be installing this mod on my truck as much as I would like to. With the back and neck problems that I have, I can't bed down to do the work near the ECM. The unit is still is the original package and has only had a pair of scissors put to the bag to read the instructions. I guess I will try to get half of the $ 215 that I paid for it.

Thanks
