Is anyone using the BD Overdrive disconnect for the 2005 48re?

Do you have any comments, before I purchase one?

Your advice please.

I also have the BD TowLoc and large pan with transmission oil filter. I find the shifts to be just fine at gross weight of 26,700 lbs towing 10,000 miles into Mexico and back.

I need to lock out the overdrive so I can reduce exhaust gas temps and increase engine speed at travel speeds usually around 50 or so. With tow haul and tow loc, it wants to stay in overdrive which increases temps and decreases fuel mileage.

Any other comments or advice?

Yes I need the Lockout switch very bad too. I tow my RV threw the blue ridge & smokey mountains where speeds are from 35 to 50mph in most places. I have the ATS TC, ATS VB, & ATS Co-pilot. The transmission shifts are good but the TC lockup is hard even under load. Real hard going into OD. Thats why I was wondering how the BD TowLock shifts & how hard lockups are. I would like to have softer TC lockups if possible

The BD Tow Lock is the bomb for the 2005. I have one and have written about it on here. Just do a search...

Yes, I have to drive 50mph through a national park with a 7k boat attached and the Tow Lock is it!

Cheers, Bill

P. S, It does not change the lockup characterisitics that your truck has. It merely allows you the choice of when to shift into overdrive... It is like being able to cruise in 4th with a 5 speed. .
