Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) bd power box???

A buddy of mine is parting out a '99 3500 and it has a box plugged into the injector pump all it says is BD power and Von Aken it is about 3. 5 X4. 5. What is it and is it any good? He said I can have it cause he doesn't know either! Do you have to have anything else with it (injectors, exhaust) or will it help by itself? My truck is the same as the one he is parting out, year and trans and gear. Thanks for your help as I have just joined and and am just now trying to learn about them!!

If i not mistaken that box is a rebadged ez. If it has adjustments on the front of it,it is an Edge comp box. If he is giving it to you for free,jump on the deal with both hands and both feet. The comp box costs about $700. 00. The ez box lists for $549. 00

01 has it right when B-D was getting the boxes I ask a sales person at the dyno day and he said YES the are a edge box. Eric

The box is an older Van Aken CPC box that goes inline with the wiring harness where it connects to the VP44. A very good box for its time and I still know a few guys running it. You can run it by itself or with injectors. A boost module would not be a bad addition to go with it but by no means necessary... . If you search for Van Aken you will find lots of info... they are also referd to as VA boxes.



By the way, BD sold this model rebadged, much the way they sell the edges now. However if you dig deep you find the BD PlugnPlay on there site still. Its updated a bit and now includes a boost module.

Well the motor has already been sold so it may have had some better injectors in it.

What does the boost module do and how much does it cost?

Off the subject, he just bought another '97 and it has some kind of box hooked up, it sets back by the fuel filter, has an open element K&N, 4" exhaust, & gauges. It had newspaper sprinkled on the inside and set on fire, but they must have rolled up the windows cause it has only smoke damage and the seat is burned.
