Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) BD RAD installed...

i bought the bd rad box hoping to feel a difference on the bottom end. i will be honest though i was not expecting a whole lot just because its not really a popular box talked about here. well the truck didnt shoot me through the sky but wow, what a difference the way it takes off nowOo. . it feels as if the truck is set free with out being held back in the low rpms of 1st and 2nd gear. now i can feel the drag comp work from 0-? mph. no hesitation. it just takes off through the gears. oh and all the gauges work but the rpm tach.

I just wish we could get the same thing w/o the lack of tach and without the CEL.

If you don't have a billet output shaft you will need one if you 4x4 boost lauch very much.

I have been thinking of getting the RAD ALSO BUT NEVER KNEW IT GAVE UP THE TACH AND CEL. iS THIS NORMAL WITH THEM. THIS IS THE FIRST i HAVE HEARD OF THIS.

Yes this is normal it disables the tach and that is what I believe sets the CEL.

And I wasn't sure if this also got rid of torque management.

yeah... they do both... ... . well it does both on the 2nd gens, not sure on the 3 gens

Some of the other gauges just stop where they are at, were as the tach goes to zero. Not trying to argue, but just wanted to let you know before you get a surprise. When my pickup is well warmed up, the oil pressure is probably around 30 at an idle, and 40+ when idled up. When I turn the RAD on at an idle the oil pressure doesn't move...

yes it is on a switch.

yes with the switch off everything goes back to normal..... it will turn the CEL light on but will go off with a few key cycles



it's an easy install... . about 30 min or so and it gets wired into the wire harness under the hood by the cowl PCM /ECM harness



the only time you would really use it is when your racing or boost launching

... ... or when you have your chip on and rad on, it does make it funner taking off from a stop.

only on a boost launch..... it will stop the Tq Management in 1st and 2nd gear

Installed a RAD box today put the switches in the ash tray. Made up this cover for a very clean install. . NOS switch-RAD switch- and lock up switch.

on a stock Out-put shaft i would not go any more then 10 psi... . and even then it could leave you sitting at the line

How lucky of a guy are you? Some brake at 10lbs some at 15lbs and some brake in 2wheel doing a burn out on the street.

And some never have with near 100,000 miles doing some major crazy stuff.

Broke mine at the line with less than 5 lbs boost Comp 5x4 and smarty on sw4. in 4wd. Waiting for the next thing to break thinking input or flexplate.
