How do you know when you need a BD-RAD i have a 02 auto

If your truck is stock, i don't see how you'd benefit from a BD RAD. If you have added power, and are having a defueling problem, it's pretty easy to pick up on the defueling if it's happening. At least with my truck, i can feel it cut out for a split second when i first come off the line(with the pedal to the floor anyway). I can also feel it defuel at the top of first gear.



I think in general it makes it much easier to help, and try to answer questions when you know how a person's truck is set up. In this case, i don't know anything about your truck except that it's an 02 auto. Consider adding to your profile the details of your truck and it's setup. I think you'll get more reply's that way.

C-Hawk is correct. It shows no benefit on the street at all, only on the track. Right now you are not making enough boost on the line to tell. It usually shows up between 10/15 psi. With your foot to the floor it will cut in and out reducing power limiting you to around 15psi at launch, This is to save damage to the transmission, and is built in to the ECM. It is like you are feathering the throttle it is unmistakable if you have the problem. If you put the RAD on - BEWARE - Your output shaft will most likely snap the first time you use it. I know I did it as well as a handful of friends, no exceptions. You must upgrade to Billet input and OUTPUT Shafts before. Let me repeat - YOU WILL SNAP YOUR OUTPUT SHAFT, so I would not do it right away. I'm sure outhers can verify this as well. Fred

It's made by BD, and it's theire "Racers Anti-Defueler" or something like that. It's basically to get rid of the defueling problem that exists on the 2001 and 2002 trucks. I don't think the earlier 24v 2nd gens had a problem with defueling.

I would guess you have plenty of power to experience the defueling problem. But if your having it, it should be noticeable. Have you ever noticed what Fred and I described? If you've never pushed past 10lbs of boost you may have the problem, just never forced it to kick in.

I still have a stock input and output shaft and a RAD box. Hasn't snapped on me yet, but I launch with only 18 psi. Anymore than that and it spins in 4x4.

I think the difference is in the transmission's. Your ATS is more forgiving during launches until you lock up, but by then you are already moving. With the DTT and a tight converter lauches are harsh, breaking parts sometimes. But you are right I know a few ATS guys with stock shafts and no problems. But almost everyone I know with DTT has had breakage. No digs on anyone, there both good products that work differently. And since OPoole run's DTT, I believe he will have a failure. Fred

i only lauching at 10lbs. because of the stock output shaft i have the billet input and upgrades buying the billet output is next. at 10lbs i have no defueling as of now but when i get all the DTT parts i going to let it eat!!! 15lbs. ? 20lbs. ? what ever it takes THANKS for all the input i did not know if all 2002 trucks defueled or not i just didn't want to buy something i didn't need

Olee you should feel a launch at ?? PSI with Mach 7's it will set up back... . way back 4th gear chirp's on an DTT auto can handle it all

is this device just for the autos? i know my truck is governed at about 3200 rpm's i believe. would this device help any for pulling or racing in a manual? is there any way of bumping the governor up on the 24valves?
