I am trying to decide wich turbo i want to go with. i hear good about the bd super b, but its alot of money to spend when your not certain if it will do what you need. anyone have any info or thoughts about it?
J. R. Adkins makes a little turbo that is similar. Several people bought them in a group purchase. Search group buy turbo and pm a couple of guys that bought them.
I've had the Super B for about a year and love it. For my truck, it lowered egt's about 100 degrees. I don't know of anybody who has the HTBG, but another guy I work with also has the Super B and is very happy with his decision too.
Will I should not get started I am not good at this.
Jerry writes and I do the work.
I own REDDGE you can read about the BD supper B in TDR #47 in Life’s a Beach page 138. Those are real numbers. We got over 425 hp and 850 torque with different injectors With the Box set at 5 and 3.
I changed the turbo only in about 2 hours. It comes with all the stuff you need. As long you have a 4” exhaust.
I now have the twin B’s they run even cooler and a little more power but a lot more work to install.
With what I know now I would go with the single B. unless you are pulling really big stuff.
You didn’t say what you are driving.
If it is a stick you will need a good clutch I put in South Bend and have no problems.
How much hp does a truck need to make to be able to spool a Super B sufficiently with minimal lag? What boost levels can a Super B attain? O-ring the head?

A stock truck spools a super B very well. In my opinion the Super B is a conservative turbo upgrade with no hp modifications needed. I have a Super B and it spools just as fast as my old stock HY. The Super B single is not for highly modified trucks over 500 hp.
I have a 93' VE pumped cummings and I installed the super "B" last month a man what a great turbo. I love the new sound, lower egts on the high end, and lag is not too bad but when she takes off she goes. I can build 45 lbs of boost. I am waiting on my 24 valve to get back from o-ringing to see how she runs. I have installed four of these turbos here in east texas and everybody loves them. You dont have to o-ring your head for this turbo. Numbers on my 93' was 325/873 with the HX35/12 and got 360/944 with just the super mod. It just pushes the cooler air faster.
